I was about to write 'where do I even begin about this one' but that's simple: I begin with the client who was patient, kind, empathetic and sensitive. That's the alpha and the omega of this picture, but there's a lot in between.

There was some RL stuff of the heavy-impact kind happen on August 10th, and since, while my passion for Blender remained, I found that I couldn't complete commissions - just do the therapeutic braindead detailing of sculpting armour or cleaning models. This is why this took so long; on the other hand, I got to entirely indulge in remaking everthing, from collar and the gem on his neck, to making the staff and shoulders from scratch because vanilla Warcraft items look bad. The birds were a fun challenge - building them a rig and then struggling with the maths to make the flames - but managing them was very satisfying.

Back to the omega: the client is wonderful. I was excited about this picture long before he actually commissioned me, and working with him on it proved even better than the inspiration. I'm very lucky.
