he sent the omnitrix to earth because it is one of the planets with the least developed sapient species in the galaxy, so it would be difficult for a human to harm someone, if he is using the omnitrix.

Ben found the omnitrix when he was 11 years old, and initially didn't understand what the hell it was, it took him a few months to understand that it was a morphing machine.

Azmuth when he met Ben was surprised to see that the only being in the observable universe who could understand the purpose of the omnitrix was an 11 year old human larva.
Azmuth subsequently allowed Ben to use the omnitrix, provided it was for good.

Azmuth has a very humorous and sarcastic personality, but is almost always tight-lipped. although he often says that Ben is stupid and useless, he considers him as a son he never had, and is often proud of the boy.
