Synopsis

This is a story about scars that were made visible when someone was ready to see them. Chance and Alicia, identical, sixteen-years-old and forced to hide a secret so deep that it is now hard to find. The aim is to protect six-year-old sister, Morgan, at all costs.
Chance attends San Francisco High-school, but keeps herself closed off.
A human sacrifice, Alicia is at the brunt of the abuse, taking it all upon herself. Chance worships her and hates herself for letting her do this, and in turn, Alicia depends on her for strength to carry the burden.
A mother’s decisions have resulted in the girls being trapped in a graphic portrait of systematic abuse. Alicia prompts Chance to open up before she does something “Stupid”.
Meanwhile, both girls confide in their diaries, and write their sentiment in such a way that the reader cannot help but connect with the explicit written depictions of their affliction.
Chance feels invisible to her workaholic mother, and all the kids at school. There is no one who disproves her statement. Until a young Evan Whyte is blinded by the beauty within her, but sees her when she is invisible.
