well, I will try to comment on this in a techniqual way, leaving the interpretations to someone else

I think this has a good concept, but graphic wise, it could have been done better.

several things could be done to improve this.

1- I dont like that it's monochromatic. I know that u did that because it would be eaiser to get rid of the difference in colors and textures from the original piece, but i think that imperfection is what makes these type of pictures successfull.. Try to keep the original colors and see what it would look like.. and even if u want to make it monochromatic, choose another color, cause this is color repulsive....

2- Something does seem right. the "squidies" that are coming out from the back dont have a casting shadow on the body. thus, it looks unreal and like a fantasy.
There are two ways to do this, but the professional way is too hard to explain, so here is a simpler yet effective way.

what you do is to create a layer just above the body layer, choose a soft brush, about 45 or so, and make te flow to 10%. than, DRAW the cast shadows on the body. Just, under the pipes, brush a little bit of shadow, and u will see, it will have a better effect.

3- I have worked with the original stock, and i dont think u should have made it up side down, but that could be personal .

4- I think what u did with the middle part is good. the best part. Although, u could still play with the shadows of the motor? inside... add a little of black, because it's inside the body, so it should be dark.

well, thats about it, hope u dont mind or take it personal... i always welcome long critiques, so i try to give them

thanks dude, I really need critics like that since that's the only way to learn. this comment means much more than saying: "cool, keep it up!"

I have to agree much.
About the monochromatic thing, well you're right it's mostly because of blending the stuff together and I guess it is the less professional way but even this way I had a lot to do with the wires. Those somehow didn't want to fit, neither in color nor in quality. I also think the pic needs to be monochromatic to reflect my feelings well but I'll try to change this method of blending anywayz.

About the shadows well, I'm a beginner so forgive me for this please, I never thought about adding shadows to my pics...well I never made pics that needed shadows though. That is a great idea! Thanks man!!

I never thought making it upside down will be important. I have no idea why I flipped it. It just seemed easier for me to work this way. It may sound stupid but I'm serious lol.

Shadows again yeah I'll look out for that.

I'm not sure you're interested in my response to your critics cause it came out to be quite a long reply but really really thanks. they help me much in developing.

lol, oh right, i flipped it... hehe... sorry...

as for the rest, dont worry about it, u should practice and such, it always makes perfcet..

Also, try to look at other peoples stuff and make researches, like how the skin would look if it was ripped and such, it will make u notice these details immediately..

and an advice that *Noko gave me, that i should always ALWAYS pay attention to small details.. the smaller they are, the bigger their impact is, and if u notice them and pay attention to what the picture needs, u will improve by 50%.. Trust me, ive been there

but keep the good work.
