Description ---Description---
ActiveSearch is Rainmeter's first complex and flexible search skin. It offers the possibility to search on 30 different (if needed customizable) search engines and to use one launcher which can open any path on your PC and any URL in your standard internet explorer. Additionally you can define one standard search for easy and fast accessing your favorite search and four more engines for easily accessing with no more than two mouse clicks.

---Save the rainforest!---
Natively, Ecosia.org is ActiveSearch's standard search engine. What is Ecosia?
"Ecosia is a social business dedicated to environmental sustainability via the donation of revenue to the world’s most effective rainforest protection programs.
Our best-known service, the search engine mask at Ecosia.org, is powered by Bing and Yahoo. It lets an essential and routine task – searching the web – double as an ecological contribution: not only are Ecosia search emissions offset, but every click on a sponsored ad within Ecosia translates into either cents for the environment - or cents for generating more cents for the environment.
Cents may not sound like much, but they certainly add up. From its inception until December 2010, Ecosia was able to generate just under 125,000 Euros (164,000 USD) for its rainforest protection program with the WWF – and that in just the first year!"

---BETA---
If you would like to be a beta tester, please report your findings here .
Do you have any more ideas for search engines? There is place for 30 of them. By now, I only have 22.

---Change Log---
v. 1.0.4:
The new beta finally supports multiple search terms. You do not need to connect your terms with a "+" anymore. Also, the new beta has a button integrated which allows you to easily check for updates.
older releases:
See this forum topic for older releases.

---Credits---
~toastbrotpascal : Graphics are widely inspired by his design for ABP. Also, thank you for helping me out with the multiple search terms issue solved in 1.0.4 release.

---Requirements---
You need to have Rainmeter 2.0 installed in order to use this skin. Get the latest release from the Rainmeter main page .

This is great, I added Wiktionary to the list so I can look up Kanji while I'm studying Japanese. Exactly what I was looking for, works like a charm.

I really like this skin for rainmeter, I think it's an awesome idea and I'm loving it everyday. But I would like to know if it's possible for you to add a setting where you can place our own top four search engines (from the list you provided) in that bar where it shows "Google, Youtube, Facebook, Wikipedia". Also changing the color of the the whole search/launcher would be a plus . Oh and another search engine that you can add can be "www.gamefaqs.com"

bendenfield In reply to JArtN [2011-02-18 19:53:34 +0000 UTC]

thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna check if I can implement gamefaqs.com. It will possibly be included in the full release coming soon

actually, you can change the 4 searches. simply do a middle mouse click on them and you will get a list to choose from. the number in the top right implies which of the four you're about to change.

I will need to have a look on the graphics to see if a switch in the colors is possible. right now, i think it's definitely do-able, but it would require some lines of extra code. but before i'll do that, i have to do some other things. I have a great plan with the ActiveSkins I'm currently working on. stay tuned

haha. actually you don't need the 2.0 release for this skin, but I thought that might be a good way to get users to do exactly this

might want to change the requirements from 1.2 to 2.0
