Thanks for the comments! I love photographing gulls at the beach - it's like shooting fish in a barrel. But seriously, these birds appear so free and special when they take to the air.

Thank you! A digital camera with a high shutter speed, a fairly fast burst rate and good sized buffer helps! The depth of field was aided by the small aperture used when shooting into a fairly bright sky. My biggest challenge is getting my pictures to "say" something. I am reminded of a quote by a great photographer:

What uses having a great depth of field, if there is not an adequate depth of feeling?

A very good quote... I'm reminded of what a friend here told me. To see something beautiful and appreciate it for that quality alone is a stirring of emotion. Don't underestimate what your shots can mean.
