Description
To think we were once warriors
in a clan with a simple life.
To think we were once kits
playing in a gang and living without strife.
From the time someone you loved left,
leaving you a sad, empty shell.
From the time someone took you away,
tainting you and making your life a living hell.
From the time you recovered,
step by step and taking it slow.
From the time you ran away,
not staying to watch your kits grow.
You've risen like a bird,
snapping back from the gloom and glum.
Words can never express
how proud I am to see how far you've come.
-Poem written by myself.

I had the realization that both Littlestep and Mjolnir's best friends became leaders, and thus was inspired to draw this. Lynxtail became one of Safe Haven's monarchs and Skinner became the Skinner. Littlestep and Mjolnir are undoubtedly so incredibly proud of their childhood friends to see where they stand today.
This took 7+ hours with a few scares of sai failing to respond. Me when I finished this piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqxcRT⦠. I then wept tears of joy.
Also... Is Mjolnir... smiling? No. No, Mjol, you aren't supposed to smile. Stop that.

Oh my gosh, this comment made my morning. ;u; Yew, you've taken the time to comment on plenty of my pieces and I want you to know how much I appreciate it <3 I don't often get a lot of comments that make me grin like a doofus, and this one certainly achieved that. Thanks so much! I think you're the great one here. <3

FLUFF. FLUFF. There are no words to describe the beauty of this piece.
The textures of the background and the rock are stunning, the glowing eyes are a lovely touch, and the cats themselves are spot-on ! The shading is simply perfect, and that poem really emphasizes what's going on in the pic. Love itttttt!

Ah no, you're so good at cats! ; ;
I really like this - it's balanced and your use of texture is really nice! I think this could use more contrast, though - mostly on the stone chunk part there in the background.
A trick I recently started using is I made a layer on top of the drawing that lets me see it in grayscale when that ayer is turned on. As a color or make changes I periodically check the image in grayscale to make sure there is enough contrast to it and the different colors aren't the only thing defining the forms. I found it really helpful for laying out that merman painting I just did so that the focus was on the figure and the background had the right depth. ^^

Ahh thanks so much! ;u;
That sounds like an interesting technique! I'll keep it in mind for future reference. I haven't worked with greyscale very much before, so it'll be something neat to test.

Yeah, I don't know how it is in SAI but in Photoshop I take a solid white layer and set it to 'hue' mode and I can turn that on and off. I gotta be careful though because I might try to color-pick when I have it all gray and try to paint but it won't work like that - you have to look and then turn it off and paint, then check again. ^^
