Description

                The squealing of kit’s voices and thumps echoed as they rolled together across the ground, tussling and kicking up dirt and grass as they played. The larger one pinned down the other.

                “Hey! Mjolnir, get off of me! You’re going to squash me!”

                “Freyja! I want you to promise me something!”

                “What?”

                “Promise me that we’ll always play together like this! That we’ll always be friends! And if trouble comes our way, I can protect the both of us!”

                “Okay! I promise!”

  Mjolnir remembers how things used to be. He can remember bright times and sunny days, the smell of fresh grass and the excited squeals of a little one he used to know.
  She was so innocent, so sweet.
  He remembers the day she was taken. He remembers hushed, secret visits to her, pushing the boundaries of what was allowed just to see her face and hear her voice. All to see his best friend again. He remembers the darkness. He remembers the death of her sweet, smiling face and bright eyes and the fear, depression, and loathing that replaced them. There was blood. So much blood.
  He remembers the two bundles of fur he vowed to protect.

  ...And he remembers how he failed them.

This was done back in July of 2015, but I've been waiting for an appropriate time to upload it. Now that Babylon is over and a significant amount of the Skinner's backstory has been revealed, I can finally post this. Jesus Christ on a cracker.
