This is the first part of a project I worked on last week. Featuring Caroline Madison:

You can view the second part HERE ツ

Update: Following several questions, let me explain a few points: I think Caroline's silhouette stands out more without the black lines on her body. Furthermore, the black paint I used was different and a bit toxic so I didn't want to put it on her skin. This image is only the first part of the project, the second part becomes completely abstract and a bit wilder... Certainly it's not recommended to cover your skin with paint repetitively, I first tried on several parts of my own body, no pain, no irritation... Caroline didn't have problems either. Acrylic paint is water-based so the majority of the substance is not toxic. Acrylic paints with cadmium can be harmful because of the heavy metals they contain. I use acrylic WITHOUT cadmium. Finally, Caroline is an exceptional model. She is a serene, passionate and determined person.

The above picture and other images from the "Flesh and Acrylic " series have been published in The Sun and The Telegraph in December 2011.

Prints of the above artwork now available!

Also purchase a bigger jpg version to have it as a wallpaper!

Making & detail:

For the Sun Is Red

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

For the sun is red
...And day is unclear
In summer's color bled
When blooms are near
Your heart was still
With the rising sun
Of tomorrows fulfill
In life times on run

For her blood is red
In its own dripping way
In deep oceans bed
Where her billows play
With its beating time
Of the restless sea
Tides of weak and prime
Inside you will see

For love as aforesaid
In everything it need
Like sea bloom dragonhead
With lustrous fruits berried
So much of infinity truth
Of love and love making
Its bosom of unsullied youth
Never in love aching

It's extreamly beautiful BUT since she's naked you should put a mature content over it. I heard they're really cracking down on thst stuff.

This is absolutely stunning work I have to say I do prefer it this way without any black lines on her. First of all it was pretty considerate of you to try the paint on yourself first; and your choice to avoid it because of it being slightly toxic.

Visually I think your choice not to paint them on her actually renders the image far more 3D. Love it and yes she is a wonderful model too

Really beautiful work. Very inspiring, and all that.
I just have to ask, why is this not mature marked?
It doesn't have to be 18+, but there's a lot of youngins on this website who see the front page right when they get here, and you can clearly see her breasts. It's lovely from an artistic standpoint, I just worry about the children. (=

the paint is like a second skin that covers everything but if you insist...

h-e-photography In reply to BenHeine [2011-06-10 09:44:22 +0000 UTC]

I don't think there should be a mature filter here.... There is nothing sexual about this - surely it is a celebration of the human body? Showing how it it is naturally - no plastic enhancements, no breasts being pushed together, no legs wide open.... (although being painted isn't natural of course )

There are an awful lot of overtly sexual portraits on DA that should have the mature filter much more than this... But because they are wearing (skimpy) underwear they don't have to have it... :S

Being nude shouldn't always be considered 'mature' .... It's just nature and we should embrace when it is shown in such a magnificent way such as this. Would you mature filter a portrait of a tribal woman taken in her home environment? Because a lot of them don't cover their breasts

Congrats on this astounding portrait and concept Ben

I do agree that it's a celebration of the human body, and a tasteful and classy one at that.
But I suppose I'm traditional like that, because I know that if I was very young and going through the front page, coming across this, I would be very uncomfortable. I would be uncomfortable coming across unclothed tribal women in my youth as well! I just think it's easier that the people who DO want to see it can just click a button to view it. I'm sorry if I offended you with my contradicting opinion.
