Description
Light Yagami: An ordinary student in possession of a not-so-ordinary notebook. With its unnatural ability to kill, he sets about ridding the world of criminals under the pen-name Kira.Vs.
The Joker: A homicidal clown with a twisted sense of humor. Not much is known about him other than a simple desire to create death and chaos wherever he goes. As archenemy Batman's polar-opposite, the Joker has a dangerous reputation in the DC Universe.
So who's the better mass-murderer? The wannabe god or the Clown prince of crime?

Yea, like many have said...Light Yagami would have lost that fight. No one knows the Joker name, or identity, not even the Joker himself no even BATMAN himself, who's a world solver caser.Β
And besides, Joker maybe a crazy killer, but also a very smart, strategist, expert in fear. He tricks and elude Batman. He hides from all and nobody can find him, even Batman.
And to try to scare him...that's a joke.
This is a person who's not afraid of anything, even Batman glare, and that's something.
He doesnt care for richest, power, or anything. He just want to see the World burn.
So how can Light kill the Joker, where many have fail, if he cannot write his name on the Death Note?
I bet that Joker will first torture him, in the mind, then end him up for good.
About the Death Note, he would discard it. Since he doesnt want to do things the boring way, but his way.

Face it, in the time it would take either of them to write his name, joker could easily close the distance and stab them.
Light and Misa aren't trained or anything, plus, added stress of the confrontation makes it harder to write, and Misa needs to see joker to get his name.
You have to remember Joker outsmarted Lex Luthor, a 12th lvl intellect. Basically, that means Joker outwitted the smartest being in the universe.

Light would have to avoid getting stabbed and outrun the Joker and hide from him.

And now light's on the defensive. There's no way he could contact Misa without joker hearing, and it would not be hard for Joker to stay out of Misa's line of site.

Light stands a good chance because he does not go off in dangerous missions but controls the field of any situation from a safe distance. Light also has Misa who has the Shinigami eyes. All she has to do is look at him and give light a name. Of course, he Joker is very, VERY, unpredictable. If he could, he'd nuke all of Japan.

I think an exception could be made for these two, since they use resources and henchmen to carry out their plans. I'd imagine it to be a game of wits; intelligence and resources vs.Β preciseΒ madness and chaos

Wait! I got it! What the Joker would do is set explosives all over Tokyo which would explode the moment his heart stops! Light can't kill kill him without killing thousands, and the Joker would make a bloody spectacle for every minute Light lets him live.Β

I don't see a Death Battle between these two working out. Β I do, however, see the potential for a story about Light/Kira hunting down the Joker to make Light's goal to godhood a reality.

Well plotting would be debatable, though I hear most Light's plans are really convoluted and impractical and require lots of stuff he has no way of knowing about to go off in the right way, no scheming means that Joker could just strangle him, and Death Battle says no prep time. Besides that, nobody knows the Joker's real name, possibly not even the Joker.

There's no limit to what Joker could do; use his acid squirting flower to destroy the Deathnote, burn Light, whip out his gun and shoot him...I don't think Light would stand a chance.

Joker as in death battle each opponent has no prior knowledge of each other. Without the Joker's Real name Light can't do anything.

You could've used a comic or a Batman: TAS picture of The Joker, that series was far superior, and this version doesn't seem very comic/original series-loyal.
The Joker is the obvious winner, because if the two were about to clash, Light would have no way to kill Joker - Joker's real name is unknown. While Joker, on the other hand, possesses henchmen, a very twisted mind, and dozens upon dozens of ingenious plans for mass destruction - his preferable technique is the use of poison gases, which is a superb way to get rid of a big amount of unsuspecting citizens. He also has ways to get to people, kill them before they even notice, when he has a plan, he goes all the way through with it, and he makes sure the result is perfect and exactly as planned.
Kira, although undoubtedly smart, is far too young and does not have enough years of experience to match The Joker.
He couldn't possibly get to him, as Kira has no actuall henchmen. Joker has everything that Kira has, and more.

Honestly, I picked John Dimaggio's version of the Joker because his portrayal was equal parts Ledger (quiet and calculating) and Hamill (zealous and comedic). That, and I enjoyed "Under the Red Hood"...

Well in my opinion, the best Joker you could've pick should have been Mark Hamill's Joker (Either the Animated Series or the Arkham Video Game Franchise).
