Description
Irene Adler digital painting.Referance taken from 'Sherlcok Holmes: A Game of Shadows' move poster.
Drawn in PS 7.0
EDIT*
As per my critique I kept the PSD and tonight I had a play around with this painting, I gave the background more depth. I put a finish on the bottom of the image in the form of splatters.

The contrast between the background and the figure immediately jumps out at the reader, which is good, because it brings definition to the piece and focuses the eye. The way the bottom of the picture faces out is rather sloppy looking though, and the picture really should be cut off so that the figure is the bottom-most object on the page.
The face is extremely well done: the level of detail in the features is amazing and the shading is extremely realistic. The eyes in particular jump out as being very well rendered and give a good feel to the over-all image. The hair as well is very life like, particularly with the feathering.
The clothing, while it is fairly well rendered, has a few flaws, such as the unevenness of the collar and the shapeless quality of the hat, but the folds are very well done, although less so an the left side, and all in all, it adds to the piece.
The work over all is solid tribute to the character that the artist executed neatly.

Thank you so much for this - my first ever critique!
I wasn't too sure about the background at all, so thank you for that. With my traditional works I never really finish the whole of the drawing when it comes to clothing so I was trying to go with that style in these paintings and I was also trying to make the hat and coat look more painterly - if that makes sense. That must not have worked the way I planned.
Thank you also about the hair - it is not my strongest area of a portrait, so I'm glad that you liked it.
