I love this sort of stuff. I always wanted to do something like that, but I'm afraid I lack the skill.

you might not believe me but it's not really a matter of skill just hard work, and psychoticly long hours.

I despair if there's a limited quantity of talent in the world, because you seem to have a large share of it, and where does that leave me? This is a truely exciting and thought-provoking piece. I keep seeing new things every time I look at it. Amazing.

have you seen Dr. von Hagens (i think thats his name) Body Worlds or Body Works exhibitions? I think you would love the catalogue and it would be the best reference material you can get unless you have access to a cadaver lab.

he invented a way to preserve a human body by turning it into plastic basically, so he has exhibitions of bodies skinned or dissected in different ways and poses them like playing chess or riding a horse (with the horse skinned too of course) unlike anything done before because they are perfectly preserved.

this is one of the most amazing drawings I've ever seen. When I saw the thumbnail I was expecting another alex grey ripoff ... but no, there is more than just biology here. there is the architecture and machinery of the mind ... and the wilderness as well. stunning work ... good god.

thank you for not calling me an alex grey rip off. so many people have invoked his name here that i almost feel like one.

you're definately not. I love Alex Grey's work, and do enjoy work inspired by him. I actually clicked on the thumbnail because in that small version it looked like one. I was pleasantly surprised by the fullview, as this is completely divergent from that. I think in some ways you've presented a more expansive and integrated view of the human being's interaction with nature and his creations, for instance. And your style is quite different as well.

People keep saying that it reminds them of Alex Grey, but it's actually quite similar in style to a piece Harold Town once did (a Canadian abstract artist). It's a shame I can't find the picture on the web anywhere. I would link to it if I could.

yeah everyone seems to link this to alex grey's images, which i know people mean as a compliment, but i don't really think there's too much in common with his work other than using anatomy as the backbone of the work.
