There was a cool concept in a magazine years ago, pitting the baddest villains against each other in a March Madness field of 64 kind of brackets. Β One bracket was real life villains, Attila the Hun, Ghengis Khan, etc, another bracket was Hollywood, and so on. Β When it was over, Darth Vader reigned supreme as the baddest villain of all time. Β I totally agree with that result!

Lol, yeah, he's swatting the tiny tie-fighters like they're pesky mosquitoes. The AT-AT is actually his dog with a costume on, and none of these things are very far into the background....

What are you talking, "try"? As Yoda would say, "Do, or do not. There is no try." Anakin didn't have to *try* to look tough: he *was* tough! It was completely bad a** the way he "dealt with" those Imperial "pawns" in the original trilogy (let's face it: those guys *were* expendable): "I find your lack of faith disturbing" from "Star Wars" (later rechristened "A New Hope"); "Apology accepted," as another drops dead from the "Force choke" in "The Empire Strikes Back;" not to mention, taking out the Emperor, at the expense of his own life, to save his offspring in "Return of the Jedi." Yep: Anakin was a bad a**, all right.Β
But then, as he reminded Luke in "Empire," "I *am* your father." (And, contrary to popular belief, the only time he only addresses Luke by name in "Empire" is when he tries to persuade him to join forces with him and de-throne the Emperor. Come tto think of it, that pose reminds me of that very scene from "Empire.")
