Description Part 2: berende.deviantart.com/art/How…

(//Edit 2019: And now, 8 years later, a single drawing of Dr. Twisk: here you go. //)

The result of seeing too many villains be victims of their massive egos, and so ending up either dead or in prison because the hero escaped and defeated them.

Dr. Twisk and Mr. Puddle are your average James Bond -type villain and hero, at least here.

It's funny how the super villains always come up with ridiculous ways of killing the heroes... thus giving them plenty of time to escape. Like chaining the hero down on a table and waiting for a laser to cut him in half... just put a bullet through his head and get back to your world-conquering business, fool!

I actually have thought of a Bond Villain character named John Stamos, a genius CEO of a robotics company who has the heart of a child. Basically, he wants to take over the world because he does not think the actual world leaders are doing a good enough job of making all of mankind happy as the well off 16% (mostly in the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan) use 80% of the world's resources.  Anyway, he does suffer from Bond villain stupidity by trying to kill him by putting him in a Scramjet whose engine would disable itself when it hit Mach 5.  However, this actually intentional.  He feels that running the world will be no fun at all and he needs to get as much fun out of this plan as he possibly can. Thus, John told one of his workers to hide a parachute to give Bond a fair chance.  Earlier, he engaged himself in an old video game contest with Bond (he is no good at cards) fully intending to scrap his world domination plans if he lost.

As for Stamos' plan, his robotics are actually very close to Rosie from The Jetsons.  Not only does he sell these to poor countries (in addition to developed countries), he performs a ton of charity work for the poor.  His plan is to activate a special signal to the millions of robots he has sold to overthrow the world governments.  He figures that in a lot of cases, the people will want a new government anyway.  What undoes John Stamos is that he has the qualities of a sportsman and is conducting the plan based on what will entertain him the most, not on what is most effective.

Seeing as they're all sadistic sumbitches, You'd think the villains would at least stay to watch.

I know. As Harley Quinn said to the Joker when he was trying to think of the best way to kill Batman, 'Why don't you just shoot him?'

B-but where's fun in this!? D:

I want to see them die slowly, meeting their end with great suffering! *D AHAHAHAHAHA!

It's not just EGO thing. xD Villains wanna have fun too. Just look at little children "playing" with living beings. Villain wouldn't be villain without being an cruel bastard, and cruelty demands sacrifices. xD

But I have to agree, they SHOULD make sure that hero IS dead. Not making sure is plain stupid. xD

And why couldn't your villain use a knife? xD He could twist it in hero's wound, watch hero scream in pain and then end hero's life miserably, cutting his throat. I's way more fun this way! xD

Um, don't mind me. xDD Just being a bit of psychopath lately. xD

You psycho!

As it happens, Dr. Twisk isn't a sadistic villain - he's a very practical one. He has a goal, and every damn hero who comes in his way must be dealt with quickly so that... well, so that they stop being in the way. The quicker the better. They're just annoying obstacles and need to be removed. Therefore Dr. Twisk doesn't seem to fit your definition of a good villain, what with him not being a cruel, sadistic bastard and all... (and a knife? heaven's no, that would be messy...)

Dr. Twisk is pretty indifferent about others' pain. He could watch someone being tortured without flinching, but he wouldn't want to torture anyone himself because 1) it makes a mess and he hates mess, and 2) he doesn't get much enjoyement out of it. It is an effective way of getting information, though, and that's why he has some pretty tough henchmen around.

So SAAAAD! D:
Where's fun in this, I ask! *D

And knives arent SO messy, if used in the right time and right place, and there are gloves! ... uhm, nievermind. xD

Well, I feel sorry for your villain. He doesn't even have fun from what hes doing! ( Well, it reminds me of nurses' protests here in Poland, and "We get no satisfaction from work!" banners xD)

I don't like indifferent kind of villains. Thy're boring. The psychos have all the fun, and indifferent ones just hard work to be done. xD

You callin' my villain boring, punk? 'Cause he'll hunt you down and use you whenever he needs human blood or bodyparts for something.

True, knives can be used relatively cleanly, and Twisk always wears gloves - but he's also slightly neurotic...

I never said he doesn't get enjoyement from what he does - he just doesn't get a kick from torturing. But getting his doomsday machines to work, blowing up places, wrecking someone's sanity, causing general havoc in big cities, various experiments in the area of robots and cyborgs (here's where the indifference towards causing pain comes in handy) - it's a field day for him!

Kinkostfur In reply to Berende [2011-01-31 09:29:48 +0000 UTC]

Yay! So he gets satisfaction from work! I'm SO happy for him! xD
Now I like him a great deal better! (Uhm. that sentence sounds funny, doesn't it? I wonder what's wrong with it. Gods, I hate grammar! xD)

(But I still prefer psychos. They're just too much fun to watch, with their running around torturing people and their evil laugh, I suppose. And many Russian rulers were like this! xD)

The sentence sounds good enough to me. Or perhaps you could say "I like him a great deal better now." Or maybe replace "a great deal" with "a lot". I don't think it matters much in this context. I'm getting confused, too, when I start thinking about this too much.

And I may add that the best way to make money is opening a shooting school for villains. They always have such a pitiful aim.

Oh yes, and the epic "running through a space with several enemies shooting at you and yet not getting hit once"... I must draw something like that. Except, you know, the villains actually not missing all the time.

MorganBanner [2011-01-20 03:00:24 +0000 UTC]

Too true! Sooo many evil plans have failed because the villian lets his/her ego get in the way so the hero always escape whatever trap the villian has set...plus the villian tells the hero exactly what his/her plan is so the hero knows exactly how to stop the villian when the hero escapes.
