Yes shadows are really tricky
Next after skincolors, i think it's my main problem with every picture.

skincolors? try eyedropping scans from other comics or actual pictures you like.. that might help.

I've actually found the colors i like for 'normal' skin now

well i don't really shade much except when i'm painting cause then i really know where to put the shading (its easier cause with painting you blend it all in) i'd love to show you sometime
