Description
Silas. His story is interesting. He's considered the 'bad guy', but he's really not. He was fooled into killing those people; he thought he was doing what was right. When Silas accidentally shoots Aringarosa, the one who took him in and gave his life purpose, he weeps and then is shot, himself, referring to himself as a 'ghost', which he was called often before he met the Bishop (Aringarosa). The Bishop replaced that saying with a new one after Silas saved him from being beaten to death. When he is looking up at Silas, he calls him an 'angel'.
In the book, Silas actually carries the Bishop to a hospital before dying. I wish they'd kept it like that in the movie, so Silas' death wasn't as terrible (he died thinking he killed the only person who cared about him).
The Da Vinci Code (c) Dan Brown, Ron Howard.

Haha I agree he is hot. Some people think he's scary looking but I think he's beautiful, like an angel, as Bishop Aringarosa says.

He's a cool character. I felt so bad he was manipulated. I wish they had done a better job on the movie and done more with Silas as a character. Excuse the fangirl moment but, Paul Bettany is such a hottie!

Yeah me too. I agree that they should have done better on the movie. And lol. I also find Paul Bettany attractive, especially as Silas. Though my heart's facing more toward Barry Pepper...

I'm happy they picked such a good actor and someone attractive to play Silas. I had a soft spot for him when I read the book and when the movie was coming out I kept thinking 'please don't make him awful and ugly'. The extended DaVinci code scenes have more Silas scenes in them that really tied the whole story together, it's a pity they left them out of the final movie.

Agreed. He has a beauty about him, being so pale, and like an angel in appearance, as the Bishop refers to him. It really is a pity.

I agree. I think I was the only one in my family who thought Silas was attractive and didn't think he was just 'evil'. I then pointed out to my mother, people have killed in the name of god for thousands of years and justified it. Silas is no different, he thought he was doing gods will.

I don't tell people when I think men are attractive, but I was thinkin it for sure. Lol. And yeah, he put all his faith in Aringarosa, and Arignarosa told him to listen to the teacher, so he did. He thought he was just being good. He was deceived. And was naΓ―ve.

Well, you know how it is. Sitting, watching DaVinci code with my Mom. She makes a comment 'What's up with Tom Hanks hair?', we get talking, I let slip I think Silas is hot. She's heard weirder come out of my mouth.
I agree, Silas was naive. I'm sure he didn't think his mentor would lead him to do wrong.

I'm in the closet, and afraid of being judged negatively for being interested in other men, so it's harder for me. I have similar thoughts, though, lol. Silas is beautiful, I think. I'm not sure this makes sense, but I find his appearance to be artistic. Then with his troubled past, on top of it, I can't help but love the guy.

I understand some, my mother was very understanding but my father wasn't and he called me some rather awful names even though his favorite aunt is gay- he just didn't like the idea of me being gay. I had a friend recently who is gay, had to fight tooth and nail to get respect from his family but then became terrified when he discovered he was attracted to a girl that was a friend of his but he finally admitted to her and they're in a relationship. I'm anti labels and being bisexual myself; I think you should love people, not gender. You should be allowed to love whomever you want without being judged. I feel the same way about Silas. He's beautiful and artistic. He's so confused and I just want to give him a cuddle. I like men and women with character in their appearance. If someone looks too perfect, it bothers me. I prefer small flaws that add to the beauty.

I came out of the closet once, years ago, but didn't like the way I felt or was treated. It's like I was thought of as less of a man. And I hate that. So I started talking about women, again. They think I was just confused. I'll keep it that way. Keep my romantic feelings toward other men to myself.
All my friends laugh at gays, too. And use words like 'fags' and 'cock-suckers', as a way to degrade those they dislike. A family member does this too but I won't point any fingers.
I've tried being with women, too, but it doesn't feel right. It feels like something's missing. Also feels like I'm lying, to them and myself. I just don't feel that spark with women.
I agree that anybody should be able to love who they love, whatever gender they are. Most of my female friends are bisexual. All male friends are straight, though, unfortunately, aside from one who I talk to online once in a blue moon.
I can relate to Silas, I think that's where my interest in somebody usually stems from. Being able to understand them. The attraction usually comes along once I get to know the person, mentally. Glad you understand what I meant by artistic - exactly. I also like character in appearance. It bothers me, too, if someone looks too perfect. It bores me. I love flaws, lol.

I wish they kept the book ending too. I mean at least he had some redemption and a sign that he was forgiven. In the movie it was just like "Yeah. You're going to hell. Bye!"

I know, thats exactly what I'm talking about, I dont get why theyd change such a dramatic and spiritual ending. They should have showed more of silas' good side too not just the tortured side

I know, it sucks. I hate the way he died in the movie, too, in the book, his death was so much more peaceful.
