I did this for the Coloring Book Challenge over at disney-club.deviantart.com/
This is probably the longest I've ever spent on a piece, but I'm so glad because I learned a lot from it
I traced it from a colouring page linked below but had to draw on a few details that I couldn't see, like his tattoos. I gotta say I really admire the designers and animators for managing that :0
The picture quality isn't great because I put it through a scanner, but I'll try and upload a better one later

Lovely coloring!! Great job adding in the tattoos. I particularly like the way you colored the sail.
The way you work with colored pencils is very nice, the softness makes it almost look like water colors.

Good to see the most recent Disney movie get some representation. The color pencil work is really nice. Like how most of the deep colors are focused on Moana and Co. Draws emphasis on them.

The shading is pretty nice too (especially the hook and the boat)

It was a great idea to use watercolors for this - it's a perfect tie-in to the ocean theme from the movie! I also like the really gentle feel the pastels provide. (BTW sometimes I have luck taking an actual photo of a traditional piece, I never get very good results from my scanner.)

I can imagine the tattoos being a pain to illustrate, but I think you did a fine job with them! It's cool that you went traditionally with this piece; there's something fairly relaxing about the colors in this scene. It's an adventurous day at sea, yes, but it feels fairly relaxing all the same LOL. Come to think of it, it's a nice contrast I see here: the adventurous sea crew riding the sunny waves and cruising by the serene and green mountainsides. I think it might also be a chill piece because of how fairly easygoing everyone seems, like they have nothing to fear on their journey. I love how you illustrated the details on Maui's bone device and the sail; those details really strike out at me for their extricate yet tight design, as if we can already know their stories from the way they're drawn. So yeah, this is a great piece! Well done.

Great traditional art. the colors of the water are exceptional. I find most people just use a lot of blue but you mixed in some greens.
