Description
One of the first things my mom said when she saw my tattoos was that I was turning into a freak. I'm not exactly covered head-to-toe, I only have seven tattoos, and they're all strategically placed so that I can easily cover them if I want to (without having to wear a burqa). So it kind of hurt when she said that to me. No one wants their own mom to think they're a freak. So this is for all the people who feel like tattoos are only done in dark alleys with a needle and a Bic pen by a skinhead named Snake and the only people who get tattoos are gangsters and miscreants.
I'm in college, I have a good GPA, I like to think I'm reasonably intelligent, I've never been drunk, I've never gotten high, I don't have a police record, and I have seven tattoos.
You may think that getting tattooed is the stupidest thing a person could ever do to themselves, but at least acknowledge that I'm not some degenerate simply because I have a couple of tattoos.

Have 2 tattoos myself, working on getting a half sleeve over time.
I can't tell you how many individuals where I live have given me condescending remarks over my tattoos and being a young female. It's rather sad
thank you for the awesome stamp, I'm using it myself<3

I'm sorry your mom said that. That is just horrible. I can't say I know wexactly how you feel, since my parents have tattoos and don't mind that I do. But I know how you feel when it comes to other people judging you based off your tattoos. I only have 2 tattoos right now, one is a vampire bite mark and the other is of a shark, but I love them and I intend to get more in the future. I also have a good GPA, I've never drinken alcohol, I've never experimented with drugs, I'm still a virgin, and I am going to college. People assume tattoos are horrible and only whores and thugs get them, but that's not true. Some tattoos are beautiful and meaningful. And even in they aren't, it doesn't make you a low life at all. Tattoos are just another way to express yourself. Your body is your temple and it's okay to decorate it ^^

Thank you I don't have any perminant tattoos but I DO have a Hena tattoo that I plan to get redone to be perminant (even if that takes a wile) and I'm CERTAINLY not a low life, in fact, if I can, I'm gonig to try to get another one, but they're both very personal tattoos for me and I don't want people to judge me because I have a tattoo and plan on getting another one

It only seems stupid to the people who think of their skin as being something that must be a certain way, and if it isn't that was is strange. But I think that for some people it's silk, for others it just covers their muscles, and for some it is a very expansive canvas, to be decorated and made more beautiful and expressive.

I can understand why someone might think that getting tattoos are stupid. I know plenty of people who don't have the slightest interest in getting tattooed ever, but they don't try to put me down for having them. They enjoy my tattoos and always ask to see my new ones. And I respect them for not wanting to get tattoos and they respect me for having them. And I think that's nice.
But I definitely feel like tattoos are a way for me to express myself. There's nothing wrong with wanting to customize your own body. To me, it seems like your body is the best place to express yourself. There's always the danger that I might someday decide that Pokemon is the stupidest thing ever and hate the Pikachu above my ankle, but I don't think so. People shouldn't be so quick to hate the things that used to be special to them. Something doesn't become stupid just because you grew out of it, it will always be an important part of your past, even if it's not important to you now. So they're like stickers on the luggage of my life, reflecting where I've been and how I became the person I am now. If you think of it that way, I don't see how you could regret your tattoo.
They also help me feel better about my body. I've always had huge issues about my body and I've always wanted to hide it as much as possible under layers and layers of clothing. But the tattoos make me feel proud of myself and my body and make me feel like I don't have to hide under tons of clothes. How could something that makes me feel so much better about myself and how I look be such a bad thing?
That was long. I'm sorry. As you know, I lack the ability to be brief.
