Description Saki' my favorite model again, here showing unawarely his pretty tiny snout.

I know I haven't been uploading much lately and for this reason I've got tons of shots (Saki' shots most of all) to let you all see. So cats lovers get ready!

P.s. Does anyone of you know the difference between the "Dogs&Cats" category and the "Domesticated Animals" one? Where should I put my Saki into?

The domesticated animals category is for animals like sheep and cows and horses and goats. That sort. It was rather astute of the admins to make a cats and dogs category, because of how many there would be.

He does have quite the glorious snout! We have a photo of a donkey's snout in our gallery, but it barely compares to this particular snout. I'm actually impressed at such a nice shot of a black cat. They tend not to be particularly easy on cameras.

Thank you I agree with you when you say black cats are not easy camera subjects, you're right

First of all I guess I'm lucky to have Saki' as a model: he's so cooperative and lets me take pics of him most of the times... I started to think about him as a vain cat

Since he's all black I have to pay attention to the light and to the exposure. In my experience the risk is to get as a final result a black silhouette with nothing else then a pairs of eyes in the middle of it

Macros of black cats are instead the discovery of a new world: you became aware of everything nestles among his hair's fur and if you're lucky is only dust. Dust. Little white dots everywhere. If you set the exposure right you can manage to hide most of them then you can fix it afterwards with programs like Photoshop. For the deviation "Your Soft Smooth Black Fur" as instance I spent hours getting rid of those annoying dots And most of them are still there among his black hairs!

Ups I wrote a lot Hope I didn't annoy you with this kind of black cats pics stuff...

No, actually it was quite helpful and interesting. I have a black cat at the house and I've definitely run into the whole, black shadow with eyes syndrome. I'll have to try some of those things you mentioned..

I'm glad you found it helpful!

Why don't you send me a note when you upload a new pic of your black cat? It would be awesome to see how the shot turns out to be.

AAAAA So cute! Nice picture. He's still so pretty I'm excited to see your others! I usually put mine in Domesticated Animals just because I think its stupid to have two!

beyond-frames In reply to fourleafedRover [2007-03-22 02:09:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you It's easy when you have such a stunning and cooperative model at your side I'm excited you're excited at seeing the other pics I have

Thanks for your suggestion I have always submitted Saki' shots under the "Domesticated Animals" category since I saw this new one, that's when I felt like "Are they serious? Don't they consider Cats and Dogs domesticated animals?" And then after some minutes (!!!) seriously considering which gallery I had to pick (since they really care your deviation is in the right place) I was finally like What am I doing? Why do the ask for such a mental effort to us?
Totally agree: two categories, same subject: definitely not a smart choice. Let's just keep things quite simple

fourleafedRover In reply to beyond-frames [2007-03-22 03:10:54 +0000 UTC]

I agree. Ive noticed that the dA people are starting to go a little overboard on modifications. First it was the new submitting page, then they did some funny thing with the profile options, then the login and so on. It all just takes longer. In my opinion they could have one category: Expressive! Because thats what art is . Anyways, I hope you have made the right decision in where Saki's wonderful pictures go! Still excited to see them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

beyond-frames In reply to fourleafedRover [2007-03-22 22:04:53 +0000 UTC]

Decision taken! From now on Saki' pics will be sent in the "Domesticated Animals" category, nowhere else! (Unless the dA staff will move them in another one, they already did with "Your Soft Black Smooth Fur" They moved it to "Miscellaneous" Misc... what?!?! ) Whatever...

Soon on this screen "Saki', the Panther" ROOOAR!

AWWW I'm very excited to see him be all wild like a panther. I have more pictures coming of my other cat Sossie! She is very "tigerlike" herself, shes very muscular.

We really need our cats to meet.
