Thanks. It's simply an acrylic asphaltum glaze on bisque fired cone 06. Then I finish with varnish.
I've considered trying to find a glaze what would look like that, but every time I go to the ceramics supply place and peruse the glazes section (about an acre it seems) my eyes begin to glaze over.....lord...glazing is a whole 'nuther art.

Lol on the glaze selection. Your finishes are really pleasing. I'm somewhat new to ceramic's and a bit intimidated by finish and fascinated by the use of glaze and finish by other artists your pieces work really well !!

I got into ceramics by accident myself. I took a mixed media class about 10 years ago at a local Art Center. The center was primarily ceramics --- and the first thing they did was plop a 25# bag of clay down in from of the students. I thought what the hell am I going to do with this??? Well...things progress and I obtained a kiln....and the rest is history.
I too am fascinated by glazes, but as I said, that's a whole 'nuther art form. I need to take a class one of these days....there are SO many glazes, it's unbelievable.
