Well, if I was worried about purism, it wouldn't be the eye patch or the scars, but the fact he seem to be on fire. Or is that steam coming off of him? Heck, it looks like he's about to breathe fire! I will admit, he's more crocodillian in appearance (snout especially) than I'm used to, but I know he's been drawn a bunch of different ways now.

Purism aside, this is an awesome piece. I like the fact he's got more of a "boxer beaten to hell and back" look than a muscled super man vibe. There's great texturing going here, making him look rough and rugged. Using the fire (magma?) in his mouth as a sort of secondary lighting source was a good touch, and I like the color highlights it makes on his shoulders. While most of his look is macho and menacing his one eye actually makes him look kind of pitiful in a way. It's like a little bit of his humanity is peeking out from with that mass.

The background lends a lot of atmosphere. Tough stone that's broken never-the-less with an ominous tag of Killer Croc's name on it.
