...from The Flight of Dragons, respectively.Finished Smrgol so just threw the two together side by side.
Just another practice deal with the Copic markers - basically second go round in color with them...still got a bit to mess with. There was a lot of blending going on here, ugh.
Smrgol's colors are off on his face and belly - supposed to be more orange but I used the wrong marker and after trying to blend that around it didn't work out to my liking. I did use Photoshop to alter the tint, but in the end decided against it since it kinda defeated the purpose of not using much digital. However, I did use the levels to brighten them up from the original scan to make them closer to what the real cards look like. Smrgol is still a bit dark however.
Now to figure how to put together Bryagh...or maybe Lunarian or Shen Tsu.
But probably mostly Bryagh. He's great.

Before reading your description, I was going to comment that Smrgol's colors turned out fantastic- I still think they did! Both cards are so gorgeous! I wouldn't hesitate to buy them off of you if you ever offered them up. Ah, nostalgia. I miss the animated films of the 80s and early part of the 90s so much.

So you're using Copics and... How are you getting the white highlights?

The white highlights are from a white gel pen I bought off of Jetpens.com. I SHOULD be using my acrylic white ink and brush but i've been lazy. I get fairly decent lines with the pen, as nice as it is, but can get a little cruddy in some places because of the flow and it being a gel pen with a usual pen nib.
AND YAY FOR GLEE! And Bryagh isn't even here yet, lol. I've been considering drawing Smaug from the old Hobbit animation from Rankin/Bass too. Was another one of my favorite dragons from back in the old times.
