Oh, are furrie just fans and dress up for fun? I was under the impression that furries were people who believed they had the soul of the animal and therefor, they were one (similar to otherkin). I'm sincerely asking, too, because i honestly do not know.

furries are just people who are fans of anthropomorphic animals such as the lion ling, they usually make an animal representing their self which are called fursonas. furries are just fans, although otherkin is a spiritual thing (what you thought furries were), some furries dress up for fun, but not all

I agree with you, except at the point where you defined anthropomorphism.
An anthropomorphized animal is an animal given physical human-like characteristics, like walking on two legs, wearing clothes, etc.
What you described was personification, where a nonhuman object is given human-like characteristics, like being able to feel emotions, speak a human language, understand religious morals, etc.
Therefore, Simba from TLK is not an example of an anthropomorphized animal.
