Description an automatic drawing i made today at work. it's about a traumatic breakdown/breakthrough that occured out of the blue (but not really THAT out of the blue).

I'm not sure I understand the term automatic... it has many meanings for me Would you explain?

There's a lovely flow to this piece that draws my eye upwards, where everything comes to a head and expands... conciousness?

there arent really any rules, becuase it's not about rules because it's not really about "art" in any kind of academic or cultural sense. you just put pen to paper (or something to something else) and you do and you do and you do for many many months and all the fucking time. basically, at least the way i'm doing it, it's another form of divination like tarot or whatever - an interface- an attempt to establish a permanent waking-life connect with the unconscious and/or whatever else you might think is in/out there.

it works AMAZINGLY. i used to not be able to draw at all. i used to be ABLE to (meaning i had some level of skill) but i could only copy something else, nothing would ever come out of myself. and now i probably do a dozen drawings like this a day. i have hudnreds just falling out of books i stuff them in (whatever i'm reading at the time). they're not all "great" or even "Good" but that's not the point either. and it doesn't just work for drawing but also starts to work its way into everything else. which is actually the idea, even if you have to trick yourself that it's not.

Thank you for the link
I've been doing something similar with paint, mentally switching off... it's a very good technique
