Description
BIOGRAPHIES
Name: Lucidity
Nicknames: Lucy, Lulu2 (only by Claire to tease Illusion, a.k.a. “Lulu”)
Parents: Crystal Clarity, Illusion
Age: 5
General bio:
Lucy is a quiet but extremely inquisitive, with a tendency to observe newcomers to the palace with an unnerving intensity. She becomes very extroverted upon deciding that she likes somepony, however, and will often talk new friends' ears off in an effort to get to know them better. She has been generally protected in the palace and is still quite young, so she seems quite naïve, but she nonetheless seems to know when she's being fibbed to, even by a talented liar like her grandfather, Discord. She has a fascination with her reflection, and will at times stare at herself in a mirror for several minutes.
Relationships:
As a young foal, Lucy is very attached to her parents. She and Claire often play together, but it is Illusion who often has to calm her down when it's time to eat, bathe, or go to bed. Illusion has already begun trying to teach Lucy magic, but while she grasps the concepts quickly, he has been frustrated to find that she doesn't seem to be able to use either unicorn magic or chaos magic, yet.
Lucy gets very excited when Discord appears. While he seems nervous around her and dials back his chaotic tricks considerably, he still has quite a bit of fun with her, doting on her like any grandfather would, but about tenfold more grandiose. Celestia is also very grandmotherly toward Lucy, and often sneaks her pieces of cake that they share together. Her grandpa Spike often reads to her when he comes to visit, and has also been teaching her how to write with her left claw.
Mint Julep is one of Lucy's cousins and thinks she's adorable, while her brother Kunzite thinks she's cute but is a bit put off by her piercing stare.
Talent/Abilities:
Abilities:
She hasn't shown any ability to do magic of any kind, yet, and at times it seems others' attempts to teach her through demonstration result in strangely failed or significantly weaker effects than intended. Her left front limb is a dragon's hand like her grandpa Spike's, so she has the ability to draw and write without using magic or her mouth. She has recently learned to use her fang as a can opener to get into food on her own.
Talent:
She's too young to have earned her cutie mark, yet, and nopony is completely sure if she will have one given the dragon and draconequus blood in her, but she does seem to have an unusual perceptiveness, often seeing through even complicated illusion spells.

Name: Mint Julep
Nicknames: Julie
Parents: Anthea, Turquoise Blitz
Age: 64
General bio:
Julie is Annie and T's second born foal, and as such she tends to seem a bit more spoiled and carefree. She often forgets things and seems a bit out of step with the present. In spite of this, she manages to run her juice bar competently enough to turn a profit, though she would probably be doing better if she didn't misplace her ledger or forget to put deductions she's earned on her taxes. Julie discovered her talent while boiling mint syrup for a drink for her mother, who was sick with a cold. She has a bit of an addiction to her minty concoctions, and perhaps as a side-effect her breath always smells wonderful, even when she's first woken up. She's very caring, often going with her grandpa Spike to volunteer for charity service, and she would tear up if she so much as bruised a bug. She hates violence and confrontation and tends to avoid those who bring such to her, though she will grin and bear it if she feels she has to.
Relationships:
Julie was very close to her mother, who shared her gentle temperament and was very good at calmly countering her general ditziness. After Annie died Julie began to act much more forgetful and out of sorts, but she has recently begun to pull herself together. Her relationship with T wasn't as close, though still loving, but since Annie's death they have spent a lot more time together and she has opened up more with her father than in the past.
Grandma Fluttershy was very nurturing toward Julie and did her best to encourage her. Julie held her grandmother up as an example of someone who, like her, had some very crippling social liabilities, but still managed to press on and overcome many of her faults.
Spike and Julie share an interest in helping less fortunate ponies, so they spend time together regularly volunteering for charities. Spike does find her antics amusing, and often cracks jokes that go right over her head, which just amuses him more. She generally feels very comfortable around her grandpa due to his generally gentle nature, though she complains when he rough-houses.
Kunzite and Julie's relationship is a bit strained. She often feels inadequate compared to him even though her parents have always been very approving of her. She doesn't agree with his business or his aggressive behavior, but she does look up to him as a strong and competent dragon-pony.
Julie has one cousin, Princess Lucidity, who she finds delightful. She likes how cute and intelligent she is, and enjoys the feeling of not being judged by her much younger cousin.
Talent/Abilities:
Abilities:
Julie's dragon wings allow her to fly very far and fast, though she doesn't deign to use her ability to fly much due to the fact that she often runs into things when she stops paying attention to where she's going. This isn't much of a problem for her because her draconic stamina allows her to shrug off most damage, but the property damage bills can get overwhelming. She has sharp fangs and claw-hooves which allow her limited grasping abilities, especially useful when mixing drinks. While she prefers pony food, she does enjoy the occasional emerald with mint garnish.
Talent:
Julie's talent is creating delicious drinks, often based on mint though she's capable and willing to create other types of drinks. She cultivates the mint from her mint garden which was started by her and Annie when she was a filly. Growing the mint isn't so much part of her talent as it's a plant that one has to be skilled to keep from taking over a garden, which makes it the perfect crop for a forgetful pony like Julie.

Name: Kunzite
Nicknames: Kuku (Julie is the only one allowed to call him this)
Parents: Anthea, Turquoise Blitz
Age: 70
General bio:
Kunzite is a very serious and responsible dragon-pony, often taking responsibility for taking care of his mother when he was young due to feeling that her blindness made her weak and fragile. He was often frustrated when other ponies didn't look out for her and left her to do things on her own when she obviously had difficulty doing them. He behaves in a very polite and chivalrous manner toward everypony he meets, even when they've upset him. He was picked on in school, but quickly put a stop to that when he proved to have a short temper backed by strength far greater than most other foals, and after a time a hard glare was all that it would take to stop another pony in their tracks. He discovered his talent while working in his aunt's jewelry shop when a high ranking royal guard excitedly purchased a beautiful short-sword he'd crafted in his spare time which the guard told him was the most well-crafted blade he'd ever seen and perfectly balanced. When he got old enough, he decided he would leave home to join the royal guard, but an injury during training caused by his own overzealousness in overcoming an obstacle washed him out. He decided that he would still use his talents to serve the guard, however, by opening a bladesmithing shop and selling his superior work to them at a bulk discount rate.
Relationships:
Kunzite has grown distant from his parents. He was always very overprotective of his mother, and while she understood that he did it out of filial love for her, her attempts to discourage him often made him feel unappreciated. He often snaps at his father out of an underlying resentment that he felt he was the one taking care of his mother while his father just enjoyed her company, and this anger has grown stronger after his mother's death along with his suspicions that his father may be interested in some other mare working at the palace.
Julie's general peacenik attitude annoys Kunzite quite a bit, but he nonetheless feels a protective big-brotherly instinct for her which compels him to try to help her out of messes she often makes herself. He tries to make regular visits to Ponyville for her sake if not for anyone else's.
Spike and Claire both have a stronger bond with Kunzite than his parents do. Claire's aggressiveness meshes well with his as they often wrestled when he was young and still occasionally spar for fun. While Spike isn't as aggressive as his daughter, his full dragon strength made him the perfect play partner for Kunzite as well, and Kunzite admires his knightly attitude and attempts to emulate it. Claire also taught Kunzite what she knew about metalworking, and he used to work in her jewelry shop as a colt before she lent him the capital to open his own business.
He loved his grandma Fluttershy very much and often spent time there. She indulged his protective nature far more than his mother, and because of that he felt very fulfilled while he was with her. He was perhaps the most effected when she passed away, and still has a sore spot when thinking about her.
He has one cousin, Princess Lucidity, who is 65 years his junior. He feels awkward around her both due to the large age gap and because he feels that she knows more about him than he does.
Talent/Abilities:
Abilities:
His strength and durability is as impressive as his father's, though he isn't very fast or agile due to an injury in his youth. He has the ability to strike fear in anypony's heart with what he calls The Glare, a look which seems to transmit all of his rage directly into the brain of any who make eye contact. He possesses magical fire breath and levitation much like his aunt, though his stamina allows him to use it to a slightly stronger degree. He can eat gems, but they give him indigestion.
Talent:
Kunzite's special talent is creating bladed weapons, symbolized by the short sword on his flanks. His nose allows him to sniff out the perfect metal and he melts it with his magical fire, burning away all the impurities for the most perfect blade. He often decorates his work with gemstones for both aesthetic purposes and for weight balance. He also has a knack for incorporating magic jewels into his weaponry.
---
Done for 's contest creating babies for her Next Gen characters, Annie/T and Claire/Illusion. Given that Claire and Illusion don't try to have one until after Annie has passed away from old age... yeah, there's a bit of an age gap. It's okay, though, Kunzite and Mint still have some dragon in them, so I'm sure they'll live another century or so.
UPDATE: Altered Mint Julep's colors slightly.
