Very nice, the emphasis on the face/breasts is carried out well, but I agree that it could definitely do with some reworking, the effekt was nice enough, but the pic as a whole suffers. Perhaps some different layers for the bits you want to emphasise so not so much loss of detail

If you want to darken the background (assuming you have Photoshop, or Paint.NET etc) Simply paste the scan into a new layer, then create a black fill on your base layer. (You may have to trim your selection so that you don't get edges but that comes with time.)

Yes I know, I wanted to darken the background as this accident happens and I enjoyed the effect. I noticed after submitting that it could be better!
