I'm glad that Ang Lee directed this BEAUTIFUL movie
Its hard to believe that Hollywood wanted M. Night Shyamalan to make the movie before handing it over to Ang lee.
M. Night Shyamalan says,"Though Lee did a wonderful job, I think my film would have been different from his version. Different perspectives, I guess. When I was approached to do the film, I wanted more time. The production house wanted me to do it right away, but I’m sure they had their reasons. It took them six years to find another director.
And for James Cameron, Known for "Aliens, Terminator, Titanic and Avatar, says, "Life of Pi breaks the paradigm that 3-D has to be some big, action fantasy spectacle, superhero movie [....] The movie is visually amazing, inventive, and it works on you in ways you’re not really aware of. It takes you on a journey, and unless you’ve read the book – which I hadn’t – you have no idea where that journey is going. It does what good 3-D is supposed to do, which is, it allows you to forget you’re watching a 3-D movie."

I'm glad M. Night didn't direct it, since I feel it would have been wasted if he had. Loled not a fan of M Night. Shaymalan, at all. I was scared when I saw he was even involvedi and was worried the story would be ruined.

This artwork is very very beautiful. Though, I believe it kind of contradicts the book, in a way. Pi and Richard Parker never really become friends, or close at all. Pi grows attached to him, yes, but as clarified by the ending it isn't reciprocated. Also, (( SPOILERS! )) I feel like the book is more about Pi's struggle with another part of himself, (represented by Richard Parker) and his struggle to tame this side of him. He's never really been fond of the side, but for his survival he had to tame it.
Of course, Artistic license applies here, and it is truly beautiful and adorable. Just my opinion, I really hope I don't offend anyone!

I also thank it is a contradictory story.In the terrible experience，
Richard was Pi's second personality.Especially at the end，Richard didn't
look back and Pi cried sadly never before.Because he didn't know how to face
his normal life alone.Richard is a awesome character as living in the story，but isn't meaning good things in fact.People rather trust the first story.Although I believe the second one，but the first one attracted to me.In my fan arts I regard it as a fairy tale.They became friends and forgot sad memories.
We have to look to the future and take the sorrow away.
