The magic numbs him for the most part. That and a good chunk of his clothes were made by his alicorn/zebra aunt Mythic Majestic with the knowing intention to be broken if her were to change forms. Only for his magic to craft clothing for him upon his reversion. Magic has it's ways to do such things for him ever since his momma and pappa gave him a life saving blood transfusion when he was on the verge of dying from a magic buildup since humans aren't natural to magic usage.
