Can someone help me out? I want to do Trainer sprites like this but Google hasn't helped to answer my question: what program do I download to do so? And does this program come with the sprites or do I need to further obtain the sprites I wish to edit?

any program will do, but I would prefer to downoad one that has layers, such as The Gimp.
And yes, you have to optain the sprites seperately, so find Trainer Sprite bases. Do NOT download
Trainser Sprites that aren't public and thus not free to use.
If you're not sure because the artist didn't mention anything about use, ask but politely.

Dude... I thought you stole my art for a second. NO OFFENSE! Then I saw you posted yours before mine, and our sizes are completely different, as well as out palette! But that is one funny coincidence that we both sprited this nearly at the same time. And, awesome work, I must say.
But, this is strange. Do you by any chance go to a site called ACC? Because that's where I was requested to turn this picture into a sprite. xD

Because we had worked with the same reference, you neither could say it was stolen, if it had the same size (and maybe colors) than urs. Same reference = similar result
And no, I do not know a site like this. I made it just for fun and becoming better with human anatomy , as I actually sprite Pokemon, no human~

I wouldn't have said it was stolen for the same size and colors. I just noticed that's what was mostly different about the two sprites. If the structure was the same, that would be another story. But, someone from ACC sent me a note like, "OMG! SOMEONE STOLE IT FROM YOU!" I was like "Uhh... No." And another like, "Did you copy!?" I'm like, "The pictures are entirely different, in style. Of course not."

Ha, this is awesome. I've seen the original image, and this is as good, if not better. Great job converting it into pokemon style.
