We now return to the last weekend of August 2008, and Day Two of my second shoot with Ellena (aka My Favourite Subject) in and around Melbourne.For this part of the series, we head to the gym for some workout and posing images.

I like this image, not just because the model is really fantastic and great in shape, but because it's not another "oh, look at me! I'm posing." image.
No unnecessary drama, or frippery. Only a beautiful athlete working.
I really like her expression. I think everyone who works out regulary knows what she's thinking.

pretty much perfection . Ive used B+W film in college before , it really gives great results. I`m just really unsteady with cameras

I didn't really mean literally. I know the difference between guys and girls, I'm a teen. xD I just meant I have never seen a girl in my entire life before with that kind of muscle. I just meant huge muscles is stereotypically a guy thing, where as flat stomachs and soft, smooth skin is stereotypically a girl's thing. I'm just not used to seeing a girl having a huge 6-pack and arms that could crush me. xD -is sort of a girly girl- I'm shocked and awed at her dedication, but I'm surprised she would want to go that far. All I want is a toned body and a flat stomach and I'm happy. xD

I do see where you're coming from, but having spent a bit of time with Ellena - and a few other fitness and figure girls - I can say that many of them are actually quite girly. It's a helluva lot of hard work that they put in to their bodies and I applaud the dedication; I certainly don't have it!
I guess one could say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sure I've heard that somewhere before too...

Coming from another girl, I really like this, the actual model is very gorgeous, but the fact that she looks manly takes away from it, for me anyway. A girl should be fit, but I prefer to leave the strength to the guys. I like the feminine look.
Not to say she isn't beautiful, cos she is.

Coming from another girl, I also like this. However, she doesn't look manly at all. For one, muscularity doesn't equate to masculinity (then again, the definition of masculinity differentiates depending on country, culture, society and individual. Showing how their is no solid definition, but usually the social and cultural definition of is founded on the basis of gender stereotypes. Everything masculine often revolves around expectancies for males regarding behaviour and appearance, the same thing goes for woman). This woman [the model] IS feminine! I say this because, she is female and because of her biological sex, she will never be able to reach outside the range restrictions she has because of her sex-traits. So being a woman, she can only identify will being "like" a woman. Thus, she is overall "feminine." Males are masculine, females are feminine. We shouldn't be classified as what stereotypical molds we fit through our actions or appearance. Muscularity isn't something exclusively for guys.

There's nothing to be afraid of especially when, as you suggest, there's a gorgeous girl behind them. Besides, all the figure girls I know (and the roster is growing) are really sweet...

The thing about a woman like that is her strength and beauty overpowers the strenght of the shot! This image is not only a photographic inspiration, but also makes me want to kick my workouts up a notch or 10!
