Description Done for a Madman Art Competition from March 2010. You had to take a video game and illustrate it as though it was an Anime series.

*****

In-depth original characters, gripping storylines and interesting changes of scenery make the whole Jak and Daxter games a wonderful trilogy that I think would make for a great anime/animated series. If it were to be an anime, Bones would be a suitable choice to animate it because of their clean style, nice backgrounds and their ability to make vehicles, weapons and robots look more realistic. I think I'd prefer an American cartoon version of it though

Just as a forewarning to anyone who thinks I might be 'cheating', despite how perfectly flawless that title may look, I've actually re-drawn it, not copied and pasted it And oh god it look a long time

I remember this competition well, although I find it hard that it was almost a year and a half ago Doesn't seem that long ago at all......
Awesome work on this, Bijoux. I love the setup of the poster and characters' "anime" designs. They all look fantastic, although I gotta say...... Samos is ma fav

I remember it pretty well too...the horror! It sort of seems like it's been a while now, but then, you left this comment almost a year ago...
Thanks, Corad! I'm glad you like it. Yeah, Samos has got it goin' on...

Well you certainly could've fooled me with the title, but I know that you'd never just copy and paste. That's the sort of goofy shortcut I'd try. And fail at. Because short cuts like that never work
I think I'm inclined to agree with you about it being better as an American type of cartoon, though when you think about it, it has the sort of storyline that anime loves to use. (Single overpowered character off to save the world...?)
You did a great job with the characters! Except I have to say, every time I look at Maia I find that she looks far too manly...
But other than that it looks really good!
Very nice job, Bijoux!

I can't help feel lazy if I cut and paste something

Yeah, definitely better if the US did it, but I bet some anime company WOULD like to get their hands on it, if they knew it existed... You're right, Jak is definitely their type of guy

Thanks GreyJedi, glad you think so Yeah, I wasn't too happy with how Maia came out. I'm not well accustomed to drawing females. I need to practice them more

Thank you

That's cause it IS lazy. Dunno why you've got the bag-o-shame emote there, since the fact that you don't copy and paste is a good thing

Jak definitely is anime hero material. In fact I remember once, a few years ago, coming across a Jak and Daxter manga... It still strikes me as a shame that Naughty Dog's given up on Jak and Daxter, even if Uncharted is another really good series.

You could practice drawing females wearing sneakers! That'd kill two birds with one stone!

You're most welcome!

It's there because I'm sure I've done the lazier option in the past

You found a Jak and Daxter manga? It was fanmade, I assume? That'd be an interesting read, let me know if you stumble across it again It's awful that Naughty Dog has dumped it onto someone else. Without Jak they may not have had the ability to make their newer game series. Speaking of which, do you know if the new owners are making another Jak game?

Slow down GreyJedi, we have to take these things one step at a time. I've actually since drawn a boy in sneakers, at least...they're meant to be sneakers I must say, they're better than I thought they'd turn out

YOU? Take the lazier option? Surely not!

I did, though now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure that it WAS fanmade, I mean, I've read 'official' Legend of Zelda manga... I'll be sure to let you know if I ever manage to find it again.
I haven't actually heard anything about High Impact making a sequel, but from what I've heard the ending was open enough to certainly allow for it. (What do you mean haven't I beat it yet?? Of course I haven't! I SUCK at games!) Looks like they've have at least partial control of the Ratchet and Clank franchise now too... I mean, I'm not much of a Ratchet fan, but it still seems wrong just the same...
I'd like to say that the Uncharted games are good enough that Naughty Dog could've made a name for themselves without having created Jak, but I don't know whether or not Uncharted would just get lost in the shuffle otherwise.

Well, you're half way there! Fine then, take things one step at a time. It'll probably work out better in the long run anyway.
Hooray for better than anticipated sneakers!

Isn't Legend of Zelda Japanese though? It seems strange to me that Naughty Dog would call for or produce a manga for Jak...then again I suppose they could
That is true, the ending for Lost Frontier was VERY open. They hinted that Jak and friends would be going deeper into the Brink or something. Figured they'd have a sequel out by now though...
I'm sure you're not that bad at games The last few levels for Lost Frontier were a bit tricky though, I know I had some trouble with them, but it was worth it in the end...I guess. High Impact has some control over Ratchet and Clank? Seems like no one's interested in their old games anymore
I've never played Uncharted (isn't it on PS3???). Naughty Dog still would've needed to get their experience from somewhere though, i.e. Jak and Crash Bandicoot...

The sneakers are even more spankin' now they're coloured. I'm rather proud of them

Yes...I suppose Zelda is Japanese. Strange, that thought had never occurred to me before to be honest. Well, I'm pretty sure the manga wasn't called for by Naughty Dog, but it wasn't exactly fanmade either. If that makes any sense whatsoever...
You really would think that there'd be a sequel or some hints of one by now, but then again, how far apart were all of the original Jak games? At least a couple years, right?

Oh, but I am. I'm miserable at video games. I just have too much fun to quit. I'm currently stuck at the part in Lost frontier where there's a big ugly ape thing with a shield and the only way that I managed to beat it into hitting the second stage of the battle was due to a very happy glitch. After which point he killed me dead.
I know! But what I find more baffling about Isomniac selling off their Ratchet rights is that they're still making games with him. Or at least they've got a Ratchet game for the PS3 out...
Yes, the Uncharted games are for PS3, but we've got one of those, so I've been able to play them. If (when? ) you get a PS3 I'd definitely recommend giving one a shot.

Ooh. I can't wait to see your 'spankin' sneakers! 8D
