Description
This is the first thing I have posted.. for ever.I have been doing full time vector work for screen printing onto tshirts lately and have found that having a limit to my colour usage has really been.. hard to get used to and a total pain in the bum.
All of my earlier stuff has unlimited colours and transparencies.. say those words to a screen printer and they get nasty.
I have been doing a lot of experimenting with ways to create tonal effects without using a halftone.
This design has 5 colours, if one of those is the same as the shirt, then that takes it down to 4.

Coolness, good idea - preying on the whole perceived colour jargon. What happened to all it's toes? heheh
Are you still a Freehand lass nowadays?

It looks great, bec!
If I had to suggest anything, it would be that maybe your darkest purple needs a little bit more darkness in it, to give it some punch. It just seems to me that when you place that purple next to that vibrant magenta, it feels a little wishy washy.
But maybe thats just my personal preference... you know I'm a sucker for contrast!
Awesome work!

That's a really clever implementation there, Becky, it does the job of diffusing colour and suggesting form well.
Judging by that tree in the foreground, that's a MONDO toucan. Oh wait, they're branches, d'oh.
If the lines went horizontal, the pic would look like something outa the 80's, but being vertical, it works on a different level. Good old Gatecrasher used a diagonal approach a fer years back which might work for you in the future as well.
All in all, great, but I don't know if I'd buy the T-shirt if I saw it on the rack. Where's your traditional Bekky punchline?
Was this just a tester or example, or is this the latest trend in T-shirts? I've been under my rock for too long, it seems.
