Yeah, I didn't really find out until last year myself. It's subtle at first, but it becomes clear in the end that thats what's been happening.

Ah. I wasn't really able to find any details on the context of it. I only came across when she was obsessed with a lamp.

The lamp is the key actually to solving the whole mystery of it.
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
It turns out that it's actually a magic lamp containing a genie who can grant three wishes to a toon, if they use the right words. (Something like 'When you wish upon a star') The real Roger (As opposed to his doppelganger who helps Eddie Valiant throughout the book in the investigation of Roger's murder) accidentally uses the words in a song he's trying to charm Jessica with. (Who before that had wanted nothing to do with him.)
Thus the Genie grants Roger his wish of attaining her. So she up and leaves the guy she was living with and marries Roger, having a complete personality shift that all her friends can't figure out, where she suddenly seems devoted to Rogers every wish.
However this Genie is sick of granting wishes and uses some loophole to only grant Roger's wish for a year. So when the year is up, Jessica is suddenly horrified at what she's done and leaves Roger. She also figures out what the lamp really is, and what had been done to her. So she's desperate to get her hands on it. As are a couple of other characters in the book that had also used it's wishes.
There's also a sub plot that at first seems to suggest another disturbing use of mind control. As Jessica claims that the pornography she did in the book, was the result of this sleazy guy spiking her drink with a will-incapacitaing drug. But it should be noted that this is never conclusively proven. As the guy in question denies it, and suggests she made up that story to justify why she let herself do it. And IIRC it's not really proven either way.
So yeah. Obviously Who Censored Roger Rabbit is MUCH darker than theΒ 'Framed' film. LOL!
