This thing has been consuming my life since October but I'm finally DONE! It not only has spring-loaded aluminum grapple blades, but also really fires the grapple!For a demo video and more information if you'd like to buy one of these for your own collection, check out: [link]
Based on Rorschach's Grappling Gun from Watchmen.
EDIT:Managed to juggle around costs and bring the price-tag down for you all! My first three pre-orders are now $500, and after that, units will be $600. See the website for more information!
Remember, these are hand-made fan-made toys of top quality. Take-up Reel is still TBD.

For those interested to buy but anxious about the price, please note I am currently doing my best to reduce costs where ever possible and bring that price tag down for all of you! I have also been debating the addition of a take-up reel and have made some adjustments that will boost the grapple firing-range to twice what it was already! More news soon!
If I do decide to add a line, guys, please don't really try to climb it. It will be for lulz and photo-ops only, these are fairly sturdy toys but they are still just hand-made toys!

I know that's a huge chunk. XD I'm working currently at budgeting things out and seeing where I can lower the price. I should edit in a note here since it got a shit ton of attention today. ^^' The final produced ones may also have a take-up reel, I'm still looking into what it would take, and I've also figured out how to get the grapple to go twice as far (I managed a good 15 feet in my yard with a lot of attention from the neighbors. 
I was lucky my prototype was made from a lot of stock we had on hand, but even so I invested a lot out of pocket to cover. I've had established professional model makers price my prototype at being worth a good $4k.

He does! But I did not have the budget to pick some up! :C My costume itself was scavenged from thrift shops for under $20. X) If I sell any of these props I'll be able to afford a pair though!

Btw, is there a string attached to the grappling hook? Because I saw the demo vid, but didn't spot a string between the hook and the gun?

The prototype does not have one, it took a shit ton of engineering for me to get it to have it's dual actions alone. I may add a take-up reel in the short-run I do to sell 'em, but I gotta get pre-orders first to pay for materials.
Additionally, imagine comic book guy from Simpsons trying to climb it, regardless of how strong I make the rope. I'm not sure I want that on my hands. D: Although if there's enough requests from serious orders I will make the adjustment. XD AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGMENT.
The nose cone does come in a choice of three different colors though.
