Description Sorry if this is kinda...messy. It's my first tutorial.

1 The basic sketch. This will be your rough draft for the position of your pony. Here we'll be doing a standing mare from the side. 3 circles (the largest one for the head, and 2 for the chast and flank) and a oval for the neck /chest.

2. The ear is the first thing you start off with. It's a good place t start because it also helps the position of the top and back of the head. Tip: the ear is a teardrop shape. The back of it is more of a curve the the front.

3. The back of the head is just a curve that goes inwards of the circle for the head.

4. The top of the head curves around the circle before slightly curving inwards.

5. The nose and bottom of he head. The top curse downward a bit before flattening out (it kinda looks like the little dipper). After that, just curve backwards and
have the bottom of the head just curve with the circle.

6. Chest and under side. Just make a long curve going from the bottom of the head to the bottom of the front circle. The underside is just a curve that follows the bottoms of the two circles.

7. Neck. Just make a little curved line from the back if the head.

8.Back and flank. Follow the top of the back circle to join with the underside line.

9. To make the front leg, draw one curve going starting from near the bottom of the chest to the length you want it. Then make an L-shaped curve to make the bottom of the leg larger than the top.

10. Back leg (1). Follow and extend a curve from the flank, make a little "notch" and a curving line simlilar to the front part of the front leg. Note: the taller the pony, the longer and straighter the extending curve.

11. Make a little curve along the outer part of the back circle. After that make a curvy backwards L-shape. Many people have trouble with the back leg.

12. The other back and front legs are just lines the follow the curves of the front of the back leg and fl back of the front leg (got it?).

13. Sketch an oval for the basic eye shape. Note: the oval points sightly backwards.

14. Follow the top of your oval. Leave a little bit of the bottom out.

15. Almost done! Erase the basic sketch, add a mouth and a a curve inside the ear, and a pupil (unless you want it closed).

16. Customize! Add a mane, tail, and eyelashes (unless it's a male with a mate shape).

Finished!
If you have a different art style, this can work for you still, you just may have to do some things differently.

Once again I apologize if it isn't my best.

I saw he pony you drew on your profile. It's not that bad really. It looks really good! But just in case you need a little ref for something, I hope this helps!
