FULL VIEW PLEASE! There are plenty of details in this little painting.Yay, I'm finished
Tomorrow's the deadline for 's City Birds contest.
It's a little Sparrow
/the background is not really a typical city environment though.. 
watercolors, pretty small (12,3x14 cm)
took me about 3 days..

i have plenty of those where i live <3 (and then i mean, ALOT xD )
but sadly, they are becoming extinct in other parts of norway

the colors, in the background especially are very luminescent (spelling?) reminding me of opal. Very pretty!

This time I started the painting with the background, but the first scan looked awful, it was very pale and grey, so I decided to cheer it up

Smart to go with the background first - I'm often tempted to dive in and start working on the subject right away, but I've found that it's usually easier to do the background first; trying to fit a background around a completed subject is pretty hard work.

Pretty little sparrow and pretty background
I love how sparrows have puffy little white undersides ^^
I don't know how small this work is, but it looks like a lot of detail just going on in that tiny eye.

I forgot to measure it yesterday, because I put it in a book and put lots of heavy books on top to flatten the paper.. You can see that the paper got very uneven at the top bit.
It's 12,3x 14 cm big. I used my smallest brushes for the details
