Description
Mid-size predators of Odin’s surface, Dromaes species specialize into varied niches. Some have recurved spines on their paraglossae that allow them to prey on aquatic animals, essentially spear-fishing to catch their food. Others are solely scavengers, using their serrated mouthparts to tear pieces of carrion left behind by predators. Those species that run down and kill prey tend to be larger and smarter, forming tight-knit packs to coordinate their hunting efforts. All Dromaids have powerful senses, tasting the ground they walk on to track prey and vibrissae-like rods to enhance their hearing. They also have soft, retractable mating display appendages that they keep year-round and can flare out to communicate with others of their kind.

It's not all that dissimilar to our skin, only theirs is reinforced in large patches with subcutaneous layers of keratin.
