I like the simplicity of this piece. A well dressed human body with a cobra’s head. Overall you pull it together very nicely. To me, it is very reminiscent of Rene’ Magitte’s Son of Man and similar works. However you seem to add less definition here than that piece. Which is not a bad thing. It actually has an interesting effect of transcending reality in addition to the impression of clashing it with the unusual. As seen by combining the human body with the fruit faces and snake head. What I think I like best is the effect of the background. While I often favor backgrounds with extravitant backgrounds, the simplistic ones such as this are often a better choice. The consistent deep blue makes the painting seem complete while also drawing the viewer’s full attention to the snake headed human. The fact that this tone of blue is not used on the character’s person makes it stand out. The fact that the shape of blue is counteracted by the bright tone of red on his bowtie and tongue make him stand out even more. You may wish to consider using strategies such as these again in future works of art. The only thing I dislike is how the eyes just seem to level and flat on the snake’s face. Arranging the eyes to have a more 3D element might be more desirable. Overall, it is a magnificent piece. Keep up the good work.

Hi. I saw this in the Project Comment and I thought I would drop a comment on it.

First off, this is such a charming and fun piece. It reminds me of 'old English' humor. It some how seems proper and even a little fancy (I think it's the bow tie)
Speaking of, after looking at this, I think it is kind of funny how a long, legless creature has such good posture and also maintains such sharp lines. Especially, in the shoulders. 

Aside from the obvious allure of having a snake in a suit, one thing that really stands out is the use of lighting and shadows here. You have the light reflecting and shining in a way that coming from a specific light source and it gradients nicely from one point to the faded out.

The background colour choice is simple and and by using a solid colour, it doesn't take away from the main focal point. Speaking of colours, the colours that you used for this seem to be more on the natural/earth tone side. Giving this a bit more of a realistic look. If you were to use more bright colours, this image might look a bit more like a cartoon. But, a snake in a bow tie does seem like some thing you could see in a cartoon. No matter what colours you use.

I really like this piece. I think it's cool and I don't really see to many things out there like this, but if I may make a critique? You seem to have some details in the snake with the lines on the belly... or, in this case it would be the neck. But, I think the suit could use some details. Like, having some stitch line on the sleeves and maybe some details on the collar? I just think that maybe the,  suit could use a bit more detail to give a more clean and defined look.

I like this a lot still, and I look forward to seeing more interesting things like this in the future from you.

Hello. I'm from over at and I wanted to comment on your work.

I really enjoy the recent trend with snakes being seen as cute nowadays. Seeing a snake with a bow tie only amplifies that trend. I like how you used a dark blue to make the snake pop out more against the background. I also like how in incorporated some of that blue in the shadows of the snake’s coat. I also really like the detail in everything from the wrinkles in the shirt to the snake’s…. Er….. what do you call that thing on the bottom of a snake?

As awesome as this picture is, there is one thing that could use some work. You clearly know how to place lighting however, going for a bright white won’t make it look it’s best. I am a digital artist so color doesn’t work the same way as in traditional, but I’ll try my best. Usually when lighting you want to go for a brighter shade of green and mix a few warmer colors in if you want to make it look good. And if the light source is harsh enough then you can use some white… well…. If the light source is white.

Another thing that could use some work would be the coat. It kinda looks like the sleeves of the coat are fused to the rest of it. You could probably get away with making some kind of divide between where the torso and the arms are. Maybe darkening the space between them could help a little bit.

But overall, I think this is a very good work. I’m not currently able to do something like this myself in traditional. You clearly did a lot of work on this and it’s really shows. Good luck in you future works my dude.
