the same intravolometer that i do my timelapses on has a bulb function allowing me to turn on my camera to bulb and take an exposure form 1 second to as much as 99 hours 99 minutes and 99 seconds
i have done exposures as long as 2 hours before to get my pic ... when you dont have a light source and you cant afford to gain noise form a high ISO long exposure is the only option XD
but the pain is on a nikon any exposures over 8 seconds the noise reduction time is 1:1 ... so 30 seconds of exposure means 30 seconds of noise reduction and 2 hours of exposure is 2 hours of NR but the end result is always fantastic and nikon does the best job i have seen ever with its NR so i think its worth the wait XD
right now im doing a 30 minute one to see if i can capture the natural star light
