This route was taking too long. The road seemed to go on forever and everything started to blur together. How long had he been walking on this same road? A few hours, maybe a few days? Matthias wasn't so sure anymore. He grew tired, things started to look the same and it felt like he was walking in circles. His legs began to feel sore, but most of all the pain in his stomach deafened every rational thought he had. He was starving. There were small hares all over this trail. He could easily catch one, although hunting and eating would take even more time than this was already taking. He couldn't afford that no matter how hungry he was. He trudged on, looking back at one of the hares that watched him off before fleeing back into the trees.
