Description
This one has been in the works for ages, so I thought it was time to chuck it out into the world.Still hope to return to it at some point and make it better when I have higher skills, so in the meantime, any suggestions and critiques are very welcome
This was inspired by my work on a speedpaint study of this image by Charles Goldie (1870-1947)

This is stunning.
I love the slightly dull look in the eyes, and the detail on the full thing. ^^

Great! I really like the insects and the way they frame the portrait. The empty eyes are nice and creepy, too. Lovely work.

He almost reminds me of Rumplestiltskin, or Mr. Gold, from "Once Upon A Time". That's a very good painting!

The choice of colours nicely evokes dust, which go ever so well with moths. The air of mystery from the man is reinfored by the "glossed over look" in his eyes. Such a wonderful & inspiring artwork!

Thank you I've actually been thinking about returning to this painting to polish it up some more. Make the moths even more realistic, for one.

I really love all the precise details on all those moths, and how that's offset with the blank eyes. It draws the eye all over the picture, rather than just a single focal point

Wow! looks amazing! I especially love the color choices and variations in the moths.
One thing though, I'd make his far eye a bit darker, not it looks a bit like he has that reflectiveness blind eyes do. Either that or apply the same to the other eye as well

Thank you for the comment The eyes were in fact intended to have a kind of blindness to them, though perhaps it's not coming across as strongly as I hoped. Eyes tend to be, well, eye catching, and here i didn't want people to get a good "grip" on them, so I tried to aim for a "not properly there but not creepily gone either"
