There are many ways on going withΒ and about it. As the neighbouring country to Russia, I prefer to keep my side neutral, not that I would blame them for it. Ukraine kind of like hit herself and it just so happens that Krimea is one of Russia's important territories (in one way or another)

People aren't all that interested in history either. All they remember is that we lost part of our nation to them and that's it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Birvan In reply to ReimaHowaido [2014-08-01 13:29:03 +0000 UTC]

Good part of the blame is how history is taught. I didn't care about it either until I got into arts and finally started to learn the cultural context people lived in, not just wars, dates and other boring, dry facts (and then I met Hetalia, but that's a completely different story)
If things were made more interesting I'm pretty sure people wouldn't be so quick and rash to act

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ReimaHowaido In reply to Birvan [2014-08-02 00:35:26 +0000 UTC]

There is just something about history that people don't like and they find to be boring. Maybe it's the "You have to live in the present" -thing, that would/could there for cause people to see history as a 'bad' and 'uncool' thing. Speaking off mass things, those who don't hate it but find it 'nice' and 'ok enough' can drop their ideas of liking history and starting to explore more about it and take i in account in their arguments, would someone/the mass be able to change their attitude towards it to be 'meh' and there for 'not interesting enough to pay attention to'
I'm getting way too philosophical here

I was actually Super interested on history since the begining~ (Freaking dinosaurs. Dinosaurs. Space. My childhood!) When history lessons started on 5th year of school, I was claiming it as my favourite subject, easily. (One if not my first history exam, IΒ  was given the wrong pages to read to it, and from scale of 4-10 I scored 6 basicly without even reading (and some can't even get that) I redeemed myself fully on 8th year when I finally got that well dederved 10 (that teacher actually sent me flowers when I graduated highschool.... Damn you.))

I personally was avoiding Hetalia like the black death xD I saw it being mentioned on forums along side with Naruto and such and I did not want to touch it. At the time, I was working on a (stupid ripoff of other popular anime/manga) series myself, and planning on writing a book that would include my characters getting caught up in some things, wondering too far and end up beyond the wall separating them from humans. Inspirated By the worlds end, I need to include nations and some people from all around the world. I have no idea how it really went and started out but one part of it was the scene in the shop with the queue (I think Finland being there had an effect)

It wouldn't happen if the education system restructured those classes or if some teachers weren't as boring as listening to a vacuum cleaner for an hour > >

To prove this, I had an history teacher once who had an awesome tactic to get the kids engaged
She used sticky notes on her book to mark where each class was in their studies. That created a healthy competition to see who could finish the entire manual (and know its content) first. In the end we ended up having a full week empty, which was unheard of (most classes only manage to teach half the manual)

But then I ended up having a teacher for 2 years who was obsessed over jewish persecution. It was so bad we never reached the Renaissance chapter in the 1st year (which everyone learned halfway in the year) and rushed everything in the 2nd just to discuss the WWII in detail (so much that I can tell Auschwitz's main entrance from memory, even after 15 years)
Not learning theΒ Renaissance put me behind everyone else in Art History and severely affected my grades D*explodes in anger* D8<

I avoided it a bit too at first, but then it became too much fun

ReimaHowaido In reply to Birvan [2014-08-08 14:38:03 +0000 UTC]

Well that's a neat strategy
Our class days are all planned though (and the more classes the better for me)
Our teacher has visited sooooooo many nations and done so much stuff that it's actually neat to hear him brag about it xD

I would have liked to listen to that person for some story telling, WWII is my most favourite subject of history in the end so... But rushing and slowing things down isn't all that great, andΒ I know some find the consentration camps and such disgusting and I do understand them

Mmmmm.... I guess you have different art classes?

They take you over and invade your brain
I think that my new school and the art group/class I'm in has few Hetalia fans xD And we share Prussia as our favourite xDDDDDD

There's nothing like retelling life experiences to make stories sound much more interesting XD

Urg trust me, you wouldn't want him as a teacher. He drilled on it so much I absolutely hated having to learn it D<

Maybe. I had specific problems with Art History class

Lol XD

Oh? Was it you By the way who had some crazy teacher only talked about the world wars and stuff? Because I think that one person in my class is similar when it comes to history studies (aka had a crazy teacher)
One person in our class has Portuguese roots btw~

We're having some classes of art history and so far it seems Super interesting (even if I know a lot of the stuff already)

Now it's like I'm the Prussia and this other person is Izaya (We also thought about going to cons or such, I've never been to one before)

Birvan In reply to ReimaHowaido [2014-08-21 15:36:32 +0000 UTC]

He was obsessed with the jewish persecution in general, yes
Cool

It depends on the time period. I'm not particularly fond of modern art

I'm the cod carrying Portugal (or the scary Portugal, depending on who you ask *coughSpaincough*)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ReimaHowaido In reply to Birvan [2014-08-21 19:50:40 +0000 UTC]

Some people are obsessed I guess then
Thought you'd like that xD

Impressionism is the 'not realistic modern art style/type' that I like the most, I guess. Cubism is just weird
Abstract art itself.... Yea... I like it more when there is something to be seen in the pic
Unless surrealism, those are cool

(Well, of the Latino 'duo' I bet he's the snarkier one xD ) And I got my friend being Norway, and other friend being pretty darn accurate Hungary

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Birvan In reply to ReimaHowaido [2014-08-21 21:15:26 +0000 UTC]

Obviously XD

For me impressionism counts as just prior modern art. Dadaism, cubism, pop art, etc is the ones I don't enjoy > >

*Just for future reference, we don't consider ourselves as Latinos. That refers to the people in South America. We're Romance nations, like France and Italy*
I used to have a lot of Hetalia friends (England, Japan, Prussia, Hungary, etc) but it's dying out. They're all moving to other fandoms

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ReimaHowaido In reply to Birvan [2014-08-21 22:29:11 +0000 UTC]

I like colors and stuff but... Yea... Some things just aren't for me
And like no-one in our art class likes the painting that is pure white but it has that one dot in it xD No-one.

Shit. Sleepy head mistakes. I'd usually just say South referring to Southern-Europe, but I guess this happens. Might be the fact that the boy with those root had that Jamaican styled hair thatIcan'trememberthenameof
Romanece? Or really Romance? Because I know the later one is used in literature and art and everywhere (while the other one reminds me of something Romanian)
I still have to watch the last season and all. School. Such busy, so work.
The group I was in never was all that big, so I could say that the peole I know where with me still kinda are

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Birvan In reply to ReimaHowaido [2014-08-22 08:40:11 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree with that one. Some paintings are too unreal for most people to call them art

No worries, it happens. You can also call them Latin countries, that's accepted
I haven't watched either

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ReimaHowaido In reply to Birvan [2014-08-22 20:27:43 +0000 UTC]

We don't see the point on wasting a canvas for such weirdness. We'd rather see a picture of a forest xD

Ok~ Well, the language that most Latin American nations use is pretty much Spanish and Portuguese, so it gets a bit messed up
School is time consuming~
But now I've bought a bright red neckerchief if I ever feel like cosplaying 'regular' Prussia~ It may not have the Scottish stripes but hey, it's bright red and it's beautiful/fabulous

Birvan In reply to ReimaHowaido [2014-08-22 22:45:42 +0000 UTC]
