Description This is a concept I've been having for some time, before I started playing Endless Forest (the only inspiration I drew from there was the pose)

I know the usual Peryton description involves a deer with bird wings and a human shadow, but I decided to take the design a bit out of the box and apply the rules from my world concept (yes, I'm still working on it)

In that setting a Peryton would be a spirit animal, a creature who is so tied to the energy flows of their surroundings that they no longer follow the natural rules. In other words, their shapes can vary greatly between individuals and can display a large array of abilities and skills, but they belong to the same species category
So a Peryton would be a creature that has bird and deer features and a predatory nature, using its shadow and other tricks to lure in prey. The "eye stones" are a common feature, since they serve as power containers

Deers deserve that credit. They were my main source of inspiration for the pose

The hair around the mouth amuse me for some reason. It's like the fluff on a young man's upperlip before he gets a beard. XDDD
Really now. I really like the concept of these critters and I love how vividly you drew the antlers! : )

LOL, that's an interesting comparison XDD

I'll likely try to make a reference sheet for them when I have the time

Pretty cool peryton. I always found them to be interesting creatures. I've never really seen this type of take on them before. but this looks really neat. The eyestones are really pretty and freaky at the same time.

So far all the perytons I've seen follow the same old design. I decided to take a different approach that wasn't so focused on a set appearance

Ah. I see. Any possible reinterpretations of other mythical creatures? It woulod be neat to see your take on other common mythical creatures.

Maybe the A Bao A Qu? In Malayan myth, it was said to be an eldritch abomination sort of creature that was a God stuck on Earth when the gateway between Heaven and Earth closed. His name literally means "Older brother" and he usually stays at the bottom of the Tower of Victory in the shape of a transluscent blob. When a traveler begins to climb the tower, he follows behind. As the man ascends, the A Bao A Qu begins gaining its form, becoming more solid and visible and glowing with blue light. It also shows its tentacles, which feel like peach fuzz. When it gets to the top, it regains its true form and returns home. However, only truly enlightened beings are supposed to be able to climb to the top, so the A Bao A Qu has never ascended to the top yet. When it realizes that the traveler is not pure of heart, it gives a cry that sounds like rustling silk and falls back to the bottom, resuming its blob shape. I think it's kinda sad.

That's interesting. I live in Malaysia, but I've never heard of that myth before

It's from the same book that the peryton is from. I think it's pronounced as Abang Aku in the Malaysian, but I'm not sure.

Never heard that story. And yeah, it's pretty sad
