I think this is because the fandom likes lgbt ships too much they forget character
they like Leopard/Sasha and it makes sence it didn't just come out of no where
but that same with Mothpool , people idealize these characters for their "perfect gay ships" so much that they loose character
-Leopardstar is suddenly really nice and wile she may have been kind to Sasha she was not that great to other cats
- Mothpool paints Crowfeather as whole new character ,something he isn't , makes it look like Mothwing is ready to kill for Leapool (in some head-cannons) and make Leafpool a bigger victim than she ever was

it's just something you want to express as your preference , as in the group of people you find attractive , or that you feel more comfortable as the other gender ect.
but it's nothing about you as a person , it's not your personality and it doesn't define you as a person
