Rox and Mark are fraternal twins but they still look alike very much. She's a few minutes older.
You could say Mandy was an accident. She's 5 while her big bro and sis are 22.
Roxanne is quite the tough woman, she is however, very beatiful and she knows this, normaly takes advantage of men since the way she sees it, they're not interested in her but her body, so they deserve it. She one of those characters that always keep their cool, is a calm person and takes things easy, she doesn't get angry all that easily but some seem to fear her. She hates her large breasts, says they always get in the way. She's a bit greedy. One of her quotes is "I'm not impressed sweetheart." . She normaly uses words like sweetheart, baby, darling, when talking to someone, she's being sarcastic half of the time. As you can see she's kind of a big woman with a strong build, she's a very talented mechanic and she takes her job very seriously because she wants to be the one to inherit the business. Mark doesn't mind, he thinks it fair and is aware he'll never be as good as she is. He can build anything and work twice as fast as pretty much anybody but cant design (automail) to save his life. So his talent on it's own doesn't mean much (and he can get to be a clutz). This is part of the reason he spends so much time at Garfiel's (trying to get Winry to date him) and not home working. He, however, has a strong bond with his twin.
Mandy is just your average 5 year old, she loves to play with Mark, and really looks up to him and Rox. Rox is determined to turn her into a great mechanic, she thinks there are not enough females mechanics in Rush Valley, but Mandy is not all that interested.

Sooooo, you all know where I stand in the matter. I hate that her life seems to revolve around the Elrics and that's all there is. She is treated as a main character, but they never really took the time to give her a story of her own. "Because there was not enough time..." Oh there was... and if not, why make her a main character? She a character that was used a lot, but in the wrong ways. Fanservice and gags. And she's not a bad character, but those 2 things screwed her up a lot. It makes me sad.
I hated her at some point, but when I sat down and analyzed her, because I'm gonna need her for my doujinshi, I realized many things... and I've even grown attached somehow. Many things about her ... let's forget what was wrong... many things are unfair about this character, her story and role. I'm not going to rant too much about Edwin because it wouldn't take us anywhere. BUT, it's unfair for both, but mostly for her. A lot. Why is she supposed to wait until Ed decides to settle down? Because believe me, if certain conditions are not met, this won't happen. And I honestly think, that if she could've gone with him, now that the journey was safe. She's traveled with them before, why not now? Her job? We must all make sacrifices for the ones we love.
(I know it's canon, I know you love canon, you don't need to tell me again, I know. But I'm sorry I simply can't agree on this. I'm in no way bashing or being disrespectful, I hope you respect my opinions while I respect yours. Seriously, I'm even "on Winry's side" this time and I'm an Ed fan... cuz well, I do think it's unfair. My opinions and the crap I draw/write/make up will never change canon, and it's really something I don't expect to happen, so chill out, don't take it too seriously or personal. Flamers will be blocked immediately.)
The way I see it, she needs a man that's always there for her whenever she needs him. A man that tells her he loves every day, and a man that is not afraid to let his feelings show, a man that makes her smile. A man that will help her achieve success.
Ed needs a woman that'll follow him to the end of the world until he decides it's time to settle down. A woman that looks after him and doesn't let him get too absorbed in his books, a woman that makes him laugh, someone who thinks differently.
So I created Mark and Priscilla.
Now besides that, I've decided to give her " a life of her own"... friends, stories.
There's Roxanne, you could say Winry looks up to her, she's like a big sister. Well she is quite older than her so it makes sense. They may be different, but they're good friends. They hang out ofter at the end of the day when the work's been done.
Mark's been head over heels for this girl since he met her. He's a very silly but cute guy, and very romantic. He asks her out every afternoon, the reply is always no but he keeps trying. Some things happen one night (No, not that pervs, it's nothing like that.) And she'll start changing things in her life, this includes giving good old Mark a chance.
Mandy is just there being a 5 year old. Winry plays with her every now and then. "It's like having a little sister."

I think your right about Winry needing her own life, so in my fic (or the fics in my head) she dates Envy. I know it's wierd but I support the couple. But I also support EdWin (oddly enough) so this is kinda from an EdWin point of view, but I think she stayed in Rush Valley because that's what Ed and Al wanted her to do. They wanted her safe. And after getting out of Gluttony's stomach the brothers learned that she was deamed a hostage. So they wanted her to stay put because her life was in danger. And she does have her pacient in Rush Valley to think about. But all that aside I do think it would be more of Winry's nature to go with them on some of their adventures. And I put that in the fic I am currently writing, because she does need more air time. I do agree with you that she does need a life or at least for her life to be shown in the seires.
Great work by the way. I normally don't really like OC stuff but I really like the stuff you draw. Your OCs are really original, I like that.

This is exactly why I don't really like EdWin. Both of them are too different that it makes their relationship seem impossible. (Plus, ever since I watched the "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! MILK'S GOOD FOR YOU! DRINK IT!" scene [which was the very first scene of FMA I watched], I always viewed them as siblings... >_o;;; I actually thought she was his MOTHER at first <_< I blame Ed's small stature)

I would say they're actually similar in certain things... personality wise, because with everything else there isn't much they share except for maybe the obvious family bond they have, but these things they have in common don't blend well together, like their short temper. On the other hand, each of them is SO into their own thing I don't see where the connection and harmony in this couple is. Ed doesn't stay put for Winry, Winry's too busy with her stuff to be with him...uhm. I don't see them doing sacrifices to be together as a couple.

Though I completely disagree with you about Winry/EdWin, and I see Ed's character pretty differently as well...I adore the new character design and the new friends you've given her! You have so much talent and put so much heart into everything, and it really shines through. And I really respect you for taking time to think through things and get to know Winry as a character, instead of just mindlessly bashing her and judging her like I've seen so many others do.

That's alright, they're points of view. (I have to say tho, I'm glad a small bunch agrees or I'd be feeling like a weirdo that sees things. XD) Thank you, I'm glad you do. I've seen how many drop these sort of projects after a few months, but I like to take these things seriously, I need all the practice I can get if I want to be someone one day. And I enjoy it, I had a lot of fun with this picture in particular, I know I've had fun when I spend 6 hours straight working on something without noticing the time until I'm done.
Well I understand the whole "I dislike x thing" but bashing seems like a waste of time and it only gives a bad reputation. I've never been really bashed (I don't count random trolls saying "I hate OCs"), people has been nice to me in general here and many've given me, my characters and my story a chance, even people that don't normally like or approve of these things. And for that I'm thankful, I try to be as nice in return.

Estoy de acuerdo con todo lo que has dicho de Winry, el problema es que muchos fans no lo ven porque estΓ‘n acostumbrados al sexismo del anime y lo ven como algo natural (yo me quedo perpleja en el foro de FMA cuando la gente dice "amo a Winry, que se fastidie Roze" "Winry es mejor personaje que cualquier otra chica de FMA"
La verdad es que cansa mucho.
Pero tΓΊ le has dado un buen ambiente y unos fantasticos OCs con los que poder crear una historia propia y eso se agradece. Mark es genial como pareja de Winry en lugar de Ed. Lo digo sinceramente

Pues es que es verdad, y como dices es fastidioso y cansado. Otra es que sienten que Arakawa es algun tipo de diosa y que todo lo que nos lanza tiene que ser perfecto y adorado. Pero yo creo que ella como cualquier otra persona tiene la misma capacidad de hacer algo bien que de hacer algo mal, y FMA lo dejo bien claro con esos contrastes. Roze en efectio habria sido una mejor heroina, incluso una mejor pareja para Ed, no solo hablando de la compatibilidad de las personalidades, pero el personaje daba espacio para muchas cosas mas. Para mi, todas son mejores que ella.... mira que el que una niΓ±a de ... 10-12 aΓ±os se la lleve de encuentro con esa facilidad. Mei en efecto no recibe el amor que merece.

Siendo honestos, Winry requiere mucha paciencia, cosa que Ed no tiene. (Sera por eso que la relacion a larga distancia funciona? XDDDD Triste.) Como toda niΓ±a tsundere, necesita al chico dulce y paciente que le sepa llegar al corazon, no otro chico con un complejo medio tsundere y caracter explosivo. Por mas fan de Ed que sea yo, no dejo de lado todos los defectos que tiene, y Winry misma tampoco tiene la paciencia de aguantar a alguien como el.
Hablando de Olivier, justo estaba hablando con Nova del cargo que deberia tener dentro de nuestros doujinshis el otro dia. Tambien ella estubo revisando modelos de gobierno.

Hmm, I never really saw it this way. Actually, it's the complete opposite for me; I think Arakawa developed Winry into her own character, with hobbies and a life and stuff she's into that doesn't just revolve around Ed. She works on automail because she loves it, and its just unfortunate circumstance that what she loves became tied up in what happened to Ed and Al. One of the things I truly love about Winry's characterization is that she has her own group of friends and work that Ed isn't really involved with (this is made very apparent after the Scar incident, with Winy saying "Even though I haven't completely accepted my parent's death, everyone's waiting for me. So I'll endure.") And I like to imagine that even when Ed goes back out and travels again she's not just sort of wasting away waiting for him, she's got crap to do!
Anyway, I'm not starting an argument, so please, do not take this the wrong way. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. On a different note, I love how you draw Winry; short hair really suits her. And Mark is a dork, 'nuff said.

She's always been like a very underdeveloped character in my eyes. I think she needed more depth, now what I'm saying, maybe it was not intended, but that's what's shown. And well friends = Boss and Paninya. Clients are clients, and well of course they "need" her. What bugs me about this is... ok, she is like a main character no? Give her more time, let's see her doing something that's not work and or Ed & Al related. She was like in a limbo right there, important but maaaybe not important enough for that. And I still can't believe automail was her own "hobby" I mean, what does she do on her days off or when she's done working for the day? Sit by the phone? I hope not. I still can't believe apple pie is the only thing she can prepare. I can't believe she never sits down to study, she's an apprentice, no? (We do see her screwing up at least once, that was good, but I didn't personally like her reaction after realizing Ed had no idea.) It's all of this stuff I feel is missing among other things. Give her a small gaiden of her own at least, I know some of this can't really be in the story. But this would've been good for characters like her. Same with Roy's past. And maybe some more info on the Xing fellas. (I still think Mei should've become Empress... she did a lot more than Ling.) So I want to explore all of this. It's funny given that I was never all that interested in her as a character. But here we are now, life is ironic.

I understand that you want to know more about Winry and her personal life, but like you also pointed out, all that can't really fit into the story. I believe she's a support character (like Riza, and god knows we don't really have any details about her past or personal life; hell, the only friend we see is Rebecca, but, of course, that doesn't mean she only has one friend). Roy is a more important character in the story, yet we don't actually know anything about what he does outside work, or if he even has any friends or relatives. The only people we know everything about is Ed and Al, if you truly think about it. Winry has a life on her own, but why should Arawaka show us something that's (in my opinion) already is pretty obvious? Don't get me wrong, I love Winry, but I'm honestly not interested in seeing how many friends she has, what kinds of hobbies she has besides automail (to be fair, we don't know anything about Ed's hobbies, besides alchemy, either. Well, okay, we know he's good with kids, but that's pretty much it), or what other kinds of food (besides apple pie) she makes. What I'm trying to say is, it doesn't really add anything to the story. We do know she works, and that she's doing her own thing. And I personally think that's enough.
She truly needed him one time (when she broke down, after facing her parent's killer), and Ed was there for her, letting Winry cry into his chest, after he talks her out of murdering Scar out of revenge. Keep in mind that they were only young teenagers, but Ed gradually starts opening up to her more, as he matures.
"Makes me think Ed will end up doing something worse than Hoho." But Hoho's (haha, I love his Fan Name) purpose for leaving was to find a way to join his love in death when her time came. I don't know wheter or not this means anything to you, but it was confirmed (in the recent Fullmetal Alchemist Chronicles), that Ed and Winry stays happily married, after the events of the manga. I think Arawaka knows her characters better than anyone else (just like I believe you know your own OC's better than anyone else ever would), so I take her word for it.

But here's the thing about Roy, Riza and the rest. Chances are they don't have much of that because of what they do, and chances are they don't really have more friends than themselves (the whole Roy team) and we see it's a fact that they all are. Adults in fact are like that, their friends are usually the people they work with, and even then we get to see them out of work just hanging out sometimes, we know they like to go to the bar together for example. And since we get to see them more in action, it's also a way we get to know them. Winry doesn't have this. The only scene I think was good for that, and a scene that I personally loved myself because it made her seem human, was the whole gun issue. Winry is 15 years old... the life of a 15 year old is different, it's not that I expect her to "go to the mall with her friends" but it's only natural that she has more of a social life. It's obvious for those other characters but not all that obvious for her. Ed and Al's only interest has always been alchemy, which is not exactly right, but that's how it is, and it's due to their circumstances, Winry should technically lead a more normal life, so I don't see why she lacks this. And maybe adding more to Ed would make him seem like a Sue. (Dogs love him? XD) I mean these things are thing that could've been shown in the story as background facts, yeah? It not that they had to make a big deal out of these things.

(Which actually would lead to a situation ... that would then lead to her dumping Ed in my story. I don't remember if it was you who asked about this before at some point. I've heard about it, but no it doesn't really tell me anything. I mean, it's like... it IS only because she says so, period. No more reasons. I kind of like good explanations... I would suppose so, but the only reason one can't write their own character... ooc, is because what the creator says IS, but it doesn't stop these things from making readers go WTF? sometimes. So not everything will necessarily make sense. (Like how I think NoAlchemy!Ed was just retarded.) And then let's not forget editors, it's not all her work only. So yeah, it IS because she says so and she's the author, not because whatever she says/does/creates is pure gold. She a human like you and me. While I love this woman, she not more and not less than I am as any other famous or non famous person is, as likely to go soemthing amazing and as likely to screw up. So what I'm doing right here s technically pointless in quite a few ways, and I know it, but I still enjoy it and want to do it, I want to share with other fans what I THINK would've worked better. No more. And of course this makes me grow as an artist, that's my only "reward".
Most likely, but as I did with Priscilla, I want people to get to know him a little more before the love dovey pictures come, so I think I should make a proper profile for him before that. LOL Sounds interesting, Ed would probably feel embarrassed, everything makes this guy embarrassed, he's so dumb (and probably Winry too, they're both silly like that) XD but Priscilla would be very excited. I know this would somehow end up with Priscilla saying something disturbing and/or asking about the others' sex life and Ed spazzing. Depending on the nature of her question, Winry might actually spazz too XD Mark would sit there either wondering what she meant or having a nosebleed.

It's unfair for both, mostly for her. And then depending on what happens when they get together it could be for any of them. Could've worked a little better if Ed hadn't lost his alchemy. Ed with no alchemy was simply retarded, that's like a bird with no wings.

Thanks. Well it's mostly a matter of style, their meant to be like that. The original FMA style has this tendency, I personally like it, I think it looks more natural, and it's also because of the chins, it's more noticeable in women.
