Description The whole whack of boo ghosties I made for Anime North. Mysteriously, they did not sell as well there as they have everywhere else, and I came home with plenty of both them and the stars. Go figure. On the supside, that means I do not have to make a bajillion of them for FanExpo, and can just use my current stock.

I'll be going through all my current stock soon, and marking which ghosties are or are not still available.

If you are interested in purchasing one of my pieces or commissioning me, please feel free to note me.

Very cute. <3 I love how fluid they are. Most ghost sculptures I've seen just sort of sit there, but yours look they could get up and float away.

I like doing gestural drawings, and that's something I try to take into my 3d work as well. Sometimes it doesn't work so well, so thank you for letting me know that in this case, it did.

Might I ask how much they go for?

Bittythings In reply to PracticallyGeeky [2012-06-10 02:56:46 +0000 UTC]

Ghosties are $5 each in Canadian currency. I'll be putting up earings of them at some point too, which are pretty much these little guys, but much, much smaller while being just as expressive.

These remind me of those little carved angels you see in hallmark stores all the time. I mean the concept is simple yet each one is unique and has a very specific personality based on its eyes, posture, arms and a few other things I can't quite place my finger on. I suppose what I'm getting at is I believe with the right pitch you could market these on a large scale.

I have not actually seen those! (Haven't been in a position to twack around Hallmark for a few years). They sound pretty cute though, and I agree with the aesthetic and design choices of simple but maintaining a sense of character.

Thank you so much for all the compliments, they were a great confidence booster. I don't know about a large scale marketing thing, or even how to get them that far, but hey, live the dream I suppose!

Well if you are interested here are the angels I was talking about.

[link]

They are called Willow tree figurines and they got their start through Halmark. Here's another series you might know.

They are called precious moments. Made out of porcelain and they have been around since the nineteen seventies. I'm just saying I think you have a lot of potential.

Ooooh, yes I have seen those! I've always found them rather beautiful and elegant. The appeal is all in the pose and stance, and they're just really nicely done. Precious moments is also quite familiar to me.

Thank you for the links, and again for the encouragement. We'll see where this all takes me.
