I think itΒ΄s something to do with those dark wings. They seem to flicker when they fly... itΒ΄s probably more irritating than fear inducing! Detail shots are always nice!

Moths are fascinating little Earthlings who don't get the respect they're due from humans.Β  Anyway ... I'm reminded of Luna the Moth Queen from Victor Herbert's musical production Babes in Toyland (1903).Β  She was a kindly soul who saved the protagonists from danger.Β  Perhaps the moth in Christine's photograph is one of her descendants...?
