Truth be told I only had that problem in Ocarina of Time, multiple times. Could be because that was the first Zelda game I played. Oddly enough I was mildly prepared in Twilight Princess and had done enough exploring that I had 200 Ruppies before the shop was even opened.

Ocarina of Time was confusing to me when I first played...but then now I have played it SO many times I know that game left and right^^ I guess that could be the case since Zelda can be hard at times...OOT was the first Zelda I played too
In TP the same thing happened to me, you find ruppees everywhere!!! And Twilight Princess was alot like Ocarina of Time in a way, the put alot of those elements in the game

Yeah, if you dont by the Hylian Sheild you are kinda screwed when you burn your wooden one....in some of the original Zelda games you were just given the Hylian Sheild..
