Description .. And let's face it, Amy and Rory didn't even seem to care this much...

SPOILERS FOR DW 6x08

I found Doctor Who 6x08 awesome.. but also kinda weird. The Doctor is lucky Mels/River showed up when she did... to distract from the fact that he completely failed to do what he said he would and find Melody. I just like the idea of the Doctor stalling for time til that happened.

And as seems to be the norm in my comics, the Ponds resort to violence to vent their emotions. And they take turns apparently.

Lol! Very cute. Go for it Rory! It's true, it was strange that they didn't seem to care a whole lot. I was wondering how they were going to solve the problem of these guys raising a kid. I guess this is how! Silly Doctor and his stalling. ^_^

I love that he always asks Rory's permission to hug Amy now. I like to think that he scared him a little when they were searching for her and Melody and the Doctor's now a little wary of upsetting Mr Pond...

I liked that too! I think some people thought it was a bit sexist but I didn't care... I think they were just trying to show that the Doctor really respects his boundaries now!

SPOILERS! My thoughts on the Amy/Rory/Doctor/River scenario.

-1: The Doctor entered Amy's life (Not so bad, actually pretty nice taking her on adventures and he even brought back her parents)
-2: They go on adventures, Amy almost dies from Weeping Angels. She forgives him but considered not traveling anymore.
-3: She hits on the Doctor almost destroying her relationship with Rory but eventually realizes she loves Rory more than the Doctor.
-4: Rory dies and is erased from history. (If only they stayed home...)
-5: Rory comes back and Amy gets pregnant and after a huge amount of confusing storyline Melody is born but is taken away by evil people to kill the Doctor. (The Doctor was the sole reason she was kidnapped)
-6: It turns out her daughter was their childhood friend who grew up with them. (Awkward... but they didn't seem to mind)
-7: River turns out to be a complete psychopath and the fact that IS her timeline growing up as Mels. That means they never got to properly raise her...
-8: Not to mention like you said, he failed to find her when he promised he would. (Mels found him...)
-9: Not only that but the fact that when River died the Doctor put her consciousness/soul inside a computer. Meaning... Amy and Rory can't even met her in the afterlife!!
(If you believe in that sort of thing)

I can see why they should be mad. The Doctor completely ruined their lives.
That is how I think Amy and Rory are going to leave him. By pure hate of who he is.

Wow! Thanks for the great comment and sorry I took so long replying!

I totally agree! The Ponds should DESPISE the Doctor and yet somehow, to them he's the greatest thing that ever happened to them! I mean, I know the Doctor screws up the lives of all the companions he has but this time it just seems beyond forgiveness.. and yet.. there they are, bu his side til the end.. Ah well, if I wanted everything to make sense all the time I wouldn't watch Doctor Who at all!

Dartpaw86 In reply to blackbirdrose [2011-10-09 23:42:00 +0000 UTC]

It's sad that his companions all have to leave in some depressing way... Donna was probably the saddest because not only did she leave but she doesn't even know who the Doctor is or anything that happened. (Except when she remembered some of the monsters which almost made her brain explode... yet she still didn't remember him!)
I think when the Williams leave him, it will be deep and emotional but not depressing. It will be more of a "Thanks for the ride but it's time we settled down" kind of thing.
(I have a feeling they're going to have a second child and wouldn't want to risk anything happening to that one)

I don't really like the new series that much. The scripts just seem rubbish. I mean a completely random new charatcher turns up randomly??
I loved the anti bodies though.

What Character are you talking about?
The Lesbian Sirulian Detective and her human partner?
Yeah, I don't know why they added them. They never appeared before and they have no backstory...

I felt the same way. In fact, I thought the whole River-is-Melody plot device was rather anti-climactic. :C Rory punching Nazis was a laugh, though. Ohohoho

Yeah, exactly! I was kinda expecting more.. and I definitely think they need more of her story before she became 'Mels'... what about all that trainig to kill the Doctor? We need some flashbacks asap!

Though it is possible that the Doctor knew about Mels -- being a superior Time Lord and all.

But it probably was just Moffat trying to write his way around the story he created halfway through his second series...

Either way - loved the episode and love this comic!

Lol I love this xD I was disappointed with the new episodes so far, as you said "a best friend I've never heard of turns up out of the blue and wants to go traveling?" they just added her in randomly, it didn't flow at all, its was too abrupt. It wasn't even about Nazis. Its all the result of poor writing. I love the actors, mind you, I miss David Tennant, but the writing just isn't what it used to be. Its like the show isn't really about the doctor anymore, its about Amy. They even added her into the title sequence, they're acting like she'll stay around forever.

blackbirdrose In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-19 12:31:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, me too... It seems they could have planned it out so we could have heard of Mels briefly in a previous episode. I mean, she could have been Amy's bridesmaid at her wedding for all I care.. as long as she exists before this episode..

True! It does seem very Amy-centric.. I was all the more surprised this past weekend when he let Amy and Rory go... I didn't see that coming considering how much this season has been about the companions!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to blackbirdrose [2011-09-19 20:53:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Mels just popped up out of the blue, no mention of her whatsoever before that moment. It would have been at least a little better if they had only just met her, but no, the writers put in an entire backstory saying that they had been friends Amy and Rory's whole lives. Plus, she seemed so quick to just turn on them, even if she was an Evil!River Song, was she not their life long best friend. I just really hated that episode

Oh my god I was so surprised when he left them! I didn't see it coming at all! I didn't believe it at first! I don't like Amy, but I love Rory, and I love Craig! I'm so happy next week is going to be about the Doctor and Craig! Finally a Doctor-centric episode, with Craig, cos he's awesome.

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-08 13:37:54 +0000 UTC]

I felt the exact same way, I was really hoping that episode was going to be a separate story not about the Ponds. It's almost like the episode was only for laughs. Although Rory punching Hitler was pretty awesome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-09 00:26:41 +0000 UTC]

Okay yeah I must admit, that I did enjoy Rory punching Hitler xD But the show is way too Pond-centric, I mean its called DOCTOR Who. Apparently the next episode is going to be completely Pond-centric, all about Amy. Amy's just not as good as the companions, like Donna, Martha, and Rose. I wish Russell T. Davies would come back to the show, his episodes were always really good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-09 15:08:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's almost as if Moffat is purposely making these episodes ridiculous just to show off that he's in charge of the show.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-09 20:48:50 +0000 UTC]

EXACTLY! They're being ridiculous! The show used to have all this depth, and emotion, and you know, stuff, and now its just like thing after thing after thing all happening at rapid speed, absolutely no thought involved. What really pushed me over the edge was that episode from series 5, with Winston Churchill, that whole episode was just a joke to me. I have no respect for Moffat.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davidwoodfx In reply to Scout34 [2011-09-10 02:00:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah you would think Winston Churchill of all people would listen to the Doc. And what about the plastic power-ranger aleks? They are such a joke. We are having to much fun tearing the new seasons apart.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scout34 In reply to Davidwoodfx [2011-09-10 21:41:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! Hahaha they did look like power rangers xD Not threatening at all. The Doctor's always talking about how horrible they are, but I just can't take them seriously if they're going to look like THAT. Ha the writing is just so bad I love tearing them apart, I want to find one of these writers, walk up to them, and without saying anything, punch 'em in the face and yell "YOU SUCK!" then walk away like nothing happened xD I've kept watching with the hope that they might finally get their acts together, but I've lost that hope I'm actually considering not watching the new episode tonight, its like the end of an era xP an awesome, Doctor Who, time traveling, era.

At least last season was somewhat decent. Did you like the Christmas special? I thought that was surprisingly well written.
