Description Another drawing from my sketchbook this is my version of Commander Shepard from Mass Effect. Her name is Commander Maria Shepard and this is her in her N7 armor from Mass Effect 3. I thought it would look cool to do a sort of movie poster style art. Now i have to color it and maybe it would look even better.

Woooooooooooooooow this is AMAZING. You did this in a sketchbook?! That is so very, very well done! I don't know if it's intentional, but it looks like part of her hair is blurred, which is a great effect for making it look like the wind caught it or something. And I love that it looks like a custom Shep. I much prefer them because I can just get more of a feel for their individual stories. Colour it in if you like, but the pencil version is pretty eye-catching!

I admin a Facebook page called 'Mass Effect Female Shepard' - www.facebook.com/FemShep/ - and today I'm using my Deviant Art acount to search for fanart and such related to FemShep (and Miranda, because I also have a Mass Effect Miranda Lawson fanpage, too) that I could upload to my page's albums.

I like to try to collect loads of permissions from artists. That way I have a list of permissions to chose from, and I try to work through them (sometimes takes me a few months) before I go ask for more permissions.

I always note the name of the artist, and provide a link back to their original. Plus if they want me to include e.g. a patreon link or link to some other platform where they post their work, I will add that too. Sometimes I write short stories if a piece inspires me... Sometimes it's just a posting with links/note of artist.

In any case, you might not even like your work being posted to Facebook anyway, but if it turns out that you would like me to post this piece to my page, let me know.

[You might want to check out my FB page first though before you decide. I run it pretty strict, aaaaand people don't always like my principles (which is fine, I just want to give you a heads up!). I know artists are sometimes a bit more mercenary: coverage and publicity is coverage and publicity, but if e.g. you hated the way I ran my page, I think you'd have every right not to want me to post your works there.]

If I've ever contacted you before, sorry for the repeat: I've probably contacted about 300 artists or more on here by now, so I forget who's who sometimes!

:S I hate the length of my comment too... :S It's just these days I've learned to be careful. Too much info is better than having an artist turn around later and say "You trans-supporting pro-abortion anti-freespeech evil person! Never post my stuff again!" ... So something like that. :S

Plus, not everyone realises when I say "Can I post it?" that I WILL cite artist and a link to their original... Plus not everyone knows I'm already willing to add in extras like their patreon (basically I want to support artists as much as I can when I post something of theirs to my page's albums). Aaaaaand I've occasionally had some very upset artists not know (when I've been shorter in what I write) that I WON'T post without their permission. So that bit avoids extra aggro!

Not that I get a lot, mind... but it's for the ones who have learned some depressing lessons about people who 'ask to share your artwork'. Aaaaand a lot of people ask for my FB page's link, because again: experience has taught them they need to check this stuff out. Aaaand because not everyone undestands my 'collect many permissions, get around to slowly' way of doing things and think I've neglected them or posted without links. :S Again, not often... but it stings whenever even one of these things has happened... in the space of 10 yrs doing it!

Otherwise all you'd get is the "your artwork is amazing!" bit of positive critique and a "Can I share this one to my FB page?" and that'd be the tiniest bit of the message! LoL! Alas, more is less... sometimes?!

That or it's my possibly-autism streak going overboard. MUST. PROVIDE. ALL. INFORMATION. [PRESUMPTION: CAN READ AT LEISURE. IMINENT RESPONSE NOT EXPECTED.] Yeah. Not everyone appreciates it... Or the fact that I feel guilty if someone *asks* a question I haven't pre-empted. LoL.

Anyway I'll let you know when it goes up. Thank you! This really is a *beautiful* piece of artwork. Such admiration for you for managing it in *pencil* no less.

Hey there, just wanted to let you know I've just posted this piece to Mass Effect Female Shepard today! It is now here: www.facebook.com/FemShep/photo…

And I wrote this to go with it (in case you're not on FB):
-----------------------------------------------

Time for something a little different... Something like... THIS AMAZING PENCIL DRAWING by blackdragon21, of their Shepard: Maria. Original: https://www.deviantart.com/blackdragon21/art/Commander-Maria-Shepard-784842494

Have to admit I really do a little squee when I see work an artist has done with non-digital media. Incredible skill is involved in digital media not to mention intellectual capacity (remembering how do use software and hardware). Nevertheless I am particularly fond of one skill artists enhance I suspect more by working with real-world materials: making good on mistakes.

If there's one thing I remember from school, it's that erasing "I <3 Mohammed" at a later date was a lot harder than it should be. I had to turn it into a doodle of something else to hide it. I had to make the '<3' shape turn into something else. I had to use that mistake... to my advantage.

Digital media allows progression of work to amazing heights of quality and perfection, but working with real media teaches you that if you want to maximise the usefulness of time you spend doing art: you have to turn mistakes to your advantage.

Truthfully, I have *no idea* whether blackdragon21 made any mistakes whilst making this. I don't know if any are covered up, or have been used to embellish the picture before us now... But that's what I love. They *could* have cocked up a bit, could have got something not right... and I might never know!
